FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GUILFORD TOWNSHIP OFFERS PRESCRIPTION DRUG DISCOUNT CARD

Townships in Illinois are now able to help uninsured or underinsured residents with a comprehensive prescription drug discount card. The program is completely free and will help many residents offset some of the overwhelming costs of prescription medications. Visit http://townships.rxsavingsplus.com for information and to print your own card. Brochures with prescription drug discount cards can also be picked up at Guilford Town Hall.

Here is how the program works: Residents who do not have a health insurance policy that pays for prescription drugs will be able to use this prescription drug discount card to receive a discount on their prescription medications. These discounts range from 20% to 50%.

This card is accepted at 90% of pharmacies in the US ‒ over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide ‒ including Wal-Mart, Costco, Walgreens, CVS, Safeway, Meijer, Rite Aid, Eagle, Jewel/Osco and many more.

Another nice feature of the Drug Discount Card program is the special affiliation with CVS Minute Clinics. If you are uninsured and live near a CVS Pharmacy with a Minute Clinic, you can save up to 10% on a visit to the Clinic. According to the Minute Clinic website “Minute Clinic makes health care easier for people…Our family nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide quality care with convenient weekend and evening hours.”

The Prescription Drug Discount card has additional benefits for many more residents. For pet owners, you can fill many of your pet prescriptions at special discount prices too. So for those residents who have their own pharmacy plans, they can still make good use of this card for pet meds.

The engine behind these money saving discounts is the Caremark Corporation through their nationwide programs called RxSavingsPlus.

Township Officials of Illinois has given their support and endorsement to this program. For information regarding this program in our township, visit our website at http://www.toi.org/guilfordtownship/information.asp
