Guild Meeting (Minutes) May 8, 2018

!. Renovation of Building D begins May 21 and some residents have to move to other areas in our building. Some people chose to relocate and have left us. We need help cleaning out unnecessary furniture and other things.

2. We desperately need volunteers for the gallery. If we do not get more support from you we will have to limit the days we are open to the public.

3. The Guild has $_17,582_ in the treasury account. We will receive over one thousand dollars from the Community Foundation Fun Run. Let me offer kudos to Stephanie McLaughlin and BOA for their generosity and time toward raising matching funds for the Guild. Thank all of you who contributed.

4. Hashtag Save the Vultures is the next show in the Gallery. The artist is from CPCC. The photography show, “A Moment in Time” for the first time is opening up to photographers under 18.

5. Mt Holly has a facility that may house artists in the future. Clyde Davis presented the City Council with a packet that described what we started at Arts on Main. They are considering something similar in their city. GCAG will remain in Gastonia but Mt Holly could be an offshoot site for GCAG. We recently learned of some vacant buildings on W Main Ave that may be used to house artists in the future. We will keep you abreast of what we find out.

6. Tonight we are presenting the Board’s nominations for the slate of officers:

President- Cam Tracy

Vice-President 1-Dottie Scher

Vice President 2-Jason Reynolds

Treasurer- Stephanie McLaughlin

Secretary- Hazel Pearce

Advisor- Wanda Meekins

We will take nominations from the floor. Voting will be by mail and the announcement will be made at our June meeting.

7.Tonight’s presenter is Dottie Scher. She has an Etsy business on line and it is profitable. How to start your own Etsy business is her topic.
