Guidelines for organising a walk in your area in aid of the Ruth Hayman Trust.

Encourage students, friends, family, children to walk along a route of your choice.

Tell them about the Ruth Hayman Trust and why we want them to get sponsors. Check our website

Choose your walk. It can be any length or any area that suits your walkers. We are suggesting any time from May onwards until the end of June.

Walk out the route first or at least make sure you are familiar with it.

Choose a start and finish point with good access by public transport and ideally places to leave the walk midway.

Give out sponsorship forms (available here: so walkers can get supporters to sponsor them.

Tell all walkers they walk at their own risk.

Make sure they wear walking shoes or boots, bring raingear, water and a snack.

Carry a basic first aid kit – plasters, bandages, wipes ……..

Please take photos of the walk for the Trust to use for publicity,but first make sure you have permission from walkers.
We willprovide certificates to thank individual walkers. If you would like certificates, make a list of names, distance walked and send to with your contact details.

Collect sponsorship money and donations. You can pay in on line (but we can only claim Giftaid if it is all your own money, not collected from others)
or you can send a cheque made payable to The Ruth Hayman Trust to P.O.Box 17685, London N6 6WD.
