Guidelines for Completing an Application to Extend the Lodgement Date for Statement of Compliance

As part of amendments to the National Rental Affordability Scheme Regulations 2008 (the Regulations) to improve the integrity and administration of the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), changes have been made to the date by which the Approved Participant must lodge a Statement of Compliance for the dwelling in relation to each NRAS year for which the Approved Participant wishes to receive an incentive.

The Statement of Compliance must be lodged:

  • by30JuneaftereachNRASyearintheincentiveperiod;or
  • by the later date approved by the Secretary, if the Secretary is satisfied that the applicant has a reasonable excuse for not being able to lodge, or for not lodging , the Statement by 30 June after the end of the NRASyear.

Under the Regulations, if a later date is approved by the Secretary, this date may not be later than30SeptemberaftertheendoftherelevantNRASyear.

A reasonable excuse will generally be characterised by circumstances that are unforeseeable or outside the Approved Participant’s control which have clearly and directly prevented them from being able to meet the specified lodgement period.

Please note, an Approved Participant must submit an annual Statement of Compliance for all active dwellingsinordertomeetconditionsofallocationandbeentitledtoreceivetheNRASannualincentive.

When to use this form

Approved Participants are encouraged to use this form to make an application to extend the lodgement date for the Statement of Compliance in relation to a rental dwelling.

Who fills out the form?

Applications must be completed by an Approved Participant or an authorised agent of an Approved Participant. Applications completed by any other parties will not be considered by the Department.

Note: Please complete one Application per Registration Identification number.

Submission and Attachments

Once completed, please submit the application form with a completed Schedule to Extend the LodgementDate for Statement of Compliance and all supporting evidence identified in this form to.

How to provide the Statement of Compliance when it is available

If the Approved Participant’s application to extend the lodgement date is approved, they will need to attach the relevant Statement of Compliance in the NRAS Portal to all dwelling IDs listed in the Schedule once the document is available.
