Suitcase materials for 0−3 year-olds

Text and design files
All English design and text files are accessible from the Free of Bullying coordination team in Denmark. The text files are available in Word, and the original design files, used for the Danish materials, are available in InDesign. The English Word file of the A3 posters is not printable as it is layouted in A3, so you will be provided with this file as a printable pdf file as well.

Appendix not included in English version
Please note that appendix 3 from the Danish version (Dialogspillet Tag Ansvar) is not included in the English version as we do not have the rights to translate this appendix.

Adjustment, adaptation and localisation to consider while translating into your local language
The English version is a translation of the materials developed for Free of Bullying in Denmark, so bear in mind that the graphic and text files will need to be adjusted, adapted and localised in some parts. This will for example be necessary in the following cases:

  • References to Danish data which might not be relevant for your country.
  • References to books or reports that are only available in Danish and might not be relevant to mention in the material for your country.
  • References to Danish cultural norms and standards which might not be culturally suitable in your country.
  • References to practices that are different from Danish practices and thus require adaptation. This couldfor example be your country’s age/class division of children in childcare facilities which is different from the Danish age/class division.
  • References to the structure child care facilities. In Denmark most children aged 0-3 are attend nursery or day care where the childis cared for in a private home by a child care provider is approved by the municipality.
  • References in the letters (to Parents, Director/Head teacher and New Users) that might notreflect the actual development of the programme and the materials available in your country. This could for example be the case if you have not developed all the courses mentioned in the letter to New Users.
  • You will of course also need to insert the name of your organisation as well as the name of your country’s Free of Bullying website in the relevant text fields
  • Songs. We have not translated the Danish songs used on the inside of the covers and in the Activity booklet as you will probably want to choose new, local songs.

Other things to adapt and localise in the translation process
You should adapt the disclaimer on the inside of the cover page to reflect the local production. It is optional if you want to assign an ISBN number to the local publication. The ISBN number for the Danish version should not be used.

Text marked in red font
We have marked the obvious text fields where you will need to adapt, adjust of localise the text or design

in red font, but you should generally be aware that adaptation might be necessary in other parts as well depending on the practice in your country.

Mandatory

The core values of Free of Bullying are tolerance, respect, care and courage. It is mandatory thatyou continue to use these four values in the translations, unless one of them is irrelevant for cultural or specificlocal reasons. There is, however, the option of adding one or two values to the programme, if thiswould make good sense in your country. If you decide to add new values, you will approval of the Free of Bullying coordination team in Denmark.
