  11. On the Database Settings window, you can play with the settings if you desire, but the defaults are good enough to get started.
  12. Your database is now created, and is prepopulated with a basic hierarchy and a couple of sample entries. These entries can be deleted whenever.
  13. Create a new entry by clicking Edit -> Add Entry.
  14. On the Add Entry window, fill in the following fields:
  15. Title: enter a name for this entry
  16. Username: enter the username for this account
  17. Password: enter a password, or open the Password Generator to generate a strong password. Also the … button will display the password in clear text.
  18. If you use the password generator, set a length and check the parameters for your password, and click OK to populate your password with a generated password
  19. Quality: the quality meter will fill up as the password strength grows
  20. URL: optionally, enter the URL this account is used at
  21. Notes: enter some optional notes about this account
  22. There are more advanced features that you can play with as desired
  23. Click the OK button to complete the entry.
  24. Save the database by clicking the save button, or File -> Save. Closing the tool will encrypt the database and close the application.
  25. You now have a password management database that can be used on your computer. Each time you create a new online account, use this to generate a username/password. You can also use it to login (using copy/paste or Auto-Type features) so you never have to remember what your password is.
  26. If you plan on using KeePass in a mobile fashion, you can access your passwords on the go by following these steps:
  27. Open the Dropbox app on your mobile device.
  28. Your KeePass database (filename.kdbx) should be visible. Open this file using the KeePass mobile app.
  29. Login using your master password.
  30. Now you can browse your accounts and view any passwords you need when you are not on your home machine.
