GUIDANCE NOTES FOR COMPLETING THE JOB APPLICATION FORM

Please read these notes before completing the form.

1. We want to appoint the best candidate for each vacancy, in accordance with our Equal Opportunities Policy, and to do this fairly we need you to provide all relevant information about yourself. This should be based on the Job Description, Person Specification and other information provided.

2. Your completed application form will be the only information the selection panel will have about you. Thus it is the quality of the information and the presentation of your application that will help us to decide whether to offer you an interview or not.

3. Please complete all sections and answer all the questions on the form.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children who attend the centre and expect all members of staff and volunteers to comply with this policy. Please complete in full all sections of the application form. An incomplete application form or a form containing gaps in the information maybe returned for completion before it can be considered

4. The Skills and Experience section asks you to tell us, on a maximum of two sides of A4, how your previous experience, skills, achievements and knowledge makes you a good candidate for the job. It would be helpful to us if you could use the Main Tasks list as described in the Job Description, as “headings” for this section.

5. The Further Information sectionit asks you to tell us anything else you would like us to know about you. It would be helpful to us if you could us the “Essential” and the “Desirable” specifications from the Person Specifications “headings” for this section.

6. A few DOs and DON’Ts to help you and us:

DO:

  • State the post you are applying for.
  • Complete the form in black ink, or paste on typed text, or type straight into the computer version.
  • Ensure that all parts of the form are completed and legible.
  • Address all the criteria in the Job Description and Person Specification.
  • Make sure we receive your application by the closing date and time.

DON’T:

  • Use sellotape or staples on any part of the form, to ease photocopying.
  • Attach a CV.
  • Attach additional sheets other than those recommended or other materials.
