GUARDIAN LIVING IS WORKING ALONGSIDE A LOCAL DEVELOPER AND BUILDER TO CREATE APARTMENT -STYLE, HIGH PHYSICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION (SDA) IN THE HEART OF RICHMOND.

There will be 6 x 2 bedroom apartments spread throughout a larger apartment complex of 110 apartments. The SDA apartments are specially designed for people who require high physical support and are rated to ‘Platinum Plus’ standards in accordance with the Liveable Housing Australia Guidelines.

Supply Co. Apartments are adjacent to Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre, overlooking the Yarra River and

only a short train or tram ride to Melbourne’s famous sporting precinct and the CBD. The apartments are due for completion in mid-2018.

Selection criteria

  • An NDIS participant who has an existing individual plan which includes SDA ‘High Physical Support’, or is able to provide satisfactory evidence of a revised or new plan which will include SDA‘High Physical Support’
  • Exhibit a strong desire to live independently
  • Acknowledge and actively embrace an onsite shared support model which is delivered by a single nominated service provider
  • Accept that a component of ‘shared support’ will be offered and delivered amongst a group of tenants living individually and autonomously within the same apartment building

  • Fully accessible, customised bathrooms and kitchens
  • Access to 24-hour carers apartment
  • Assistive technology ready, enabling the tenant to achieve more independence and community involvement
  • In addition to the apartment features, Guardian Living will offer transition planning and assistance with relocation and apartment furnishing
  • Exhibit a desire to work constructively with a coordination team to structure a framework of reasonable and necessary to suit individual needs
  • Willingness to use assistive technology to support and enhance independence
  • Capacity to successfully live in an apartment development in close proximity to multiple neighbours
  • Ability to understand and fulfil personal responsibilities (with support as required) associated with being a tenant with aResidential Tenancy Agreement
  • Willingness to consider participatingin an evaluation of the Guardian Living independent living model
  • The location is appropriate for you – either for supporting ongoing connection with family, friends and interests or is a suitable location to build a more independent lifestyle

Tenancy and support arrangements

Annecto has been appointed as the support provider of choice to deliver the majority of service provision in the development. This may include support that is shared within the development as well as the tenants’ individual support packages (Supported Independent Living packages).

Annecto is experienced in supporting people who have complex needs to live in their own home. Their main focus is on developing skills and confidence that enable people to be responsible for their own lives and decisions, resulting in outcomes that contribute to inclusion, choice and control. Annecto works closely with families and loved ones while recognising the role community plays in people living a good life.

Each tenant will have an agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Guardian Living as well as a service provision agreement with Annecto.
