1.B.Project Content

1.B.aDescribe briefly the main activities of your Learning Partnership during the last year. Please include activities in each of the institutions as well as meetings and exchanges among the partners.

Rural communities throughout Europe face multiple and linked problems, including a declining economic structure, unemployment and poverty isolation, inequality, inequity and social deprivation.The countries joining the EU face particular challenges as they seek to integrate rural communities within the Europe economic and social systems. Rural communities also have a great potential to demonstrate sustainability and improve the quality of life whilst at the same time living within a sustainable economic and social system.

One mechanism for the development of this alternative vision about Adult Education by Art is taken by the Grundtvig 2 Learningpartnership,realized by partnership of seven organisation from 7 countries( Romania, Spain, France, Italy and Hungary). The project ,,PROMOTING ADULT EDUCATION BY ART IN RURAL AREAS’’ – PRO ART involves a partnership of there different organisations engaged in the delivery of education /training Adult’s in Spain ( 2 institutions), Italy ( 2 institutions), France, Hungary and Romania. The project ,, Pro-Art’’ intend to promote social inclusion of Adult People from rural areas throught Lifelong Learning.

The aim is:

to promote inclusion of Adult Education from rural areas by Art.;

promoting rural handikrafts in Adult Education using ITC in rural areas;

to explore the effects of cultural action approaches in adult education in three different European communities;

to bring together adult educators and students working in these communities to share their practices in cultural action initiative;

to provide information and increase knowledge about European cultures, traditions and language;

to explore how cultural education which focuses on the development of indigenous culture may lead to wider economic, social and political developments; to learn about historical and contemporary developments in traditional arts and language and to experiment with innovative cultural action approaches in the three communities.

During the second year of the project there have been three meetings, as planned for, in the member-states that are associated within the project:Italy, Spain and Romania. The first of them took place between October 27th and November 1th 2005 in France (Metz). (A memorial, in English, is enclosed as an attached document.and on the CD)

The second meeting took place between March 16th and 19th 2006 at Hodmezovaserhely –University of Agriculture (Hungary). (A memorial, in English, is enclosed as an attached document and on the CD.)

he third meeting took place between June 1th and 5th 2006 at Iasi, (Romania). (A memorial, in English, is enclosed as an attached document and on the CD.)

All these have made every institution adapt its objectives and activities to the region and the necessities of the target groups, following a general outline.

During these meetings there have been set activities for each of the fields and also there have been exchanged experiences and ideas among various partners.

Following a general line, all this led to each institution objectives and activities adjustment in its field of work to the necessities of all the groups of persons they were aimed at.

First of all, everybody and each of the partners have searched for the best method of finding out which were adults’ necessities and interests taking into consideration the new technologies, either with a direct contact throughout meetings or by means of surveys and summits.

In this respect, there have been differences concerning each institution’s response.

During the first project meeting in Metz ( France) and during the following internal group meetings it was chosen one activity, out of the various proposed ideas, to be developed into the framework of the project “Promoting Adult Education By Art In Rural Areas – Pro Art”.

All of partners involved in this project has developed many interesting and important activities:

  • Teacher Training Centre like project coordinator, proposed on the project meeting in Metz (France) the website structure with 7 headings:

-Managemement quality;

-Research;

-Development of partners networks;

-Transnational dimension;

-Recognition of abilities;

-Development of methods and modules;

-Dissemination.

The framework of the project site shall be submitted to all partners

The website should be done by March 2006 and it should be subject to the next meeting in Hungary.

The objectives of this site ( INTRANET) are:

- to create the opportunity of presenting the package of practices and experiments ;

- facilitate a very good communication between partners and ensure the transparence of the project ProArt to all persons.

- to become a mean of communication between partners within a training activity promotion framework comprising the introduction and practice of an artistic activity.

The main activities in the frame of the Proart project are to coordinate all partners and to develop some important courses, like: basic Computing Courses, to organasize the choir ,, Camerata’’. Why chorus? Because it is a very good opportunity to contributed to the professional development of the participants, throughout the landing of new working techniques. At the same time, this choir has had its effects on the linguistic improvement of the choir members, through the interpretation of the traditional songs in several foreign languages.

Another important and interesting activity of Teacher Training Centre was the realization of many exhibitions performing arts ( painting,photo and video projections ). In those meetings, the work group has known the experiences of local handicraft.

  • From its starting point, the Centre of Education of Adult people, CEPA, or the Southeast of Asturias, has incorporated, besides the academic and professional education, a cultural insertion where Art and artistic manifestations have occupied and are still occupying an outstanding position.

Basically, through the different pottery workshops that the centre has given and is still giving the social and academic integration of the students who use clay as a way of expression is intended. CEPA Adult Education Centre focused the Pro-ART project mainly in the following population groups (all of which come from the rural area):

Women; mainly housewives.

-People with a low or medium level of studies.

-People with social integration difficulties.

-People with physical difficulties.

-Adults, generally, over eighteen years old.

With these profiles, CEPA Suroccidente has created different working teams to develop the PRO-ART project.

These groups are being trained through:

-Pottery workshops

-English lessons.

-Computing training.

We have also extended our range within the Pro-ART project to a group of craftsmen from the “Grupo de Acción Local Valle del Ese-Entrecabos” and to some particularly relevant people in the crafts world like the jeweller Lucas Santiago.

  • In the framework of the project, the Association.CartOOns will realize a video documentary concerning handicraft in local rural areas, in which the working methods of wood, iron, clay, and so on, are still a legacy of the rural handicraft tradition. This will involve, among other activities related to the video production and post production, some excursions and visits to rural localities of our region.

After the meeting in Metz ( France), the project team of the Association Cartoons has started collecting materials for the realization of the video-documentary about handicraft in rural areas, such as:cultural, photos, CD-ROMs, web site and contacts.In the same time, all members of the Association Cartoons have very busy working on several training courses and school workshops about illustration and comics in several rural areas. Association Cartoons, has oragnised some exhibitions performance art( painting, poetry reading, photo and video projections) in tens of typical rural Countries, in order to facilitate and promote adult education by art.

  • Associazione Alchimia – Roma – Italy, was realized many workshops with young people who were interested in deliver their artistic capabilities but for their social state could not express themselves freely. With the cooperation of the E.C. we realized two cartoon movies that have been a great success. The objective-group did a research upon the Roman Countryside at the end of the XIXth Century-beginning of the XXth Century to realize a video DVD showing the results of this study.

In the frame of the project, Associazione Alchimia – Roma – Italy has realized many workshops with young and Adult people who were interested in deliver their artistic capabilities but for their social state could not express themselves freely.In cooperation with Local rural Community, Associazione Alchimia has realized two cartoon movies that have been a great success. The target group will be :

- Young people;

- Adult with low level in education;

- Other economically or socialy underprivileged groups, unemployed people and women.

  • IRFA IRFA prepared for the meeting in Metz and presented a significant training program linked with arts. This training action called “REKUP’ART” was presented by Marie Pierre HERMON, local responsible.

In addition, IRFA EST INTERREGION was presented to the new partnership.

Outside the project, contact was made with local authorities to analyse the possibility to fund another REKUP ART and the program GRUNDTVIG 2 PRO ART was presented.

  • GLOBAL INTERFACE Global Interface Zaragoza – Spain has organised : information to groups of adults and other organizations about the objectives of the project and ask for participation, during the project and after, in dissemination activities and in the experimentation of methodologies developed during the project. This activity was developed in the rural localities of Calatayud, La Almunia, Cariñena, Daroca and Tarazona.

- contact with local authorities (Mancomunidad de Calatayud, Centro Marco Valerio Marcial, Ayuntamiento de Calatayud) and local mass media (local TV, local newspapers and council web site), to obtain the support for project development.

- development of art activities for adult education in Calatayud : painting, enamelling, intercultural cooking;

- development of art activities for adult education in Valencia : painting and mural painting.

The Global Interface from Zaragoza it was a consultant and an expert in training in rural world. For this partner, is very important to motivate persons in rural work for participating in inclusion activity by Art, as a way of personnal development and Art linked to valorization of traditional patrimony and rural resources. All project mainly activities are focused to the following target group: Women(mainly housewives), people with a low or medium level of studies, people with social integration difficulties, adults, generally, over 45 years old.All participants improve their social life, and self esteem. In our opinion, the project is showing an innovative experiences that are being developed in other countries. All participants from small rural villages are very proud of showing their work to persons from other countries, so this contributes to strong his value perception.

AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY SZEGED - HODMEZOVASERHELY

The participation of the methodologist teachers at the Teacher Training Centre, as well as that of the Adults involved in the project represented a challenge because the language of art fascinates and is successful in facilitating communication and in establishing links which cross the borders of the spoken languages. The project objectives, otherwise ambitious have been reached until now in great measure.

Thus during the project meeting which took place in France – Metz all of partners agree the methods and modalities throughout which the mentioned project will develop , as well as the phases of the project, have been established in all partners country:

The first phase consisted of:

A short description of all activities developed by all partner institutions and teir potential to reach the objectives of the project; ( Transnational meeting in Metz – France);

Application of questionnaires in order to identify the creative potential of the adults in the rural areas, and not only.

Proposal of new methods and modalities to render sensitive the target group;

The determination of each institution’s benefit (coordinating institution and local partners)

The determination of the main final project products

Collecting the information for the carrying out of the project’s web site ( ).

The second phase of the project concurred with the project meeting in Szeged – Hungary, meeting which substantiated further more the reach of the project’s objectives through:

Facilitation of the access to Education through Art for as many adult as possible;

The awareness of the intercultural dimension of the education process.

Teacher Training Centre designed the web page of the project Pro-Art: where they have introduced a wide and varied range of information in collaboration with students, teachers, and other social agents. Certain sections of this web-page have been translated by students and teachers in the official language of the project, English.

Within the reunion that took place in May 2005 inIasi, they presented the conclusion of the project related to society in general and to certain communication media, such as the exhibition of the works achieved in the Ceramics Workshop.
