Groovy Paws Rescue – Adoption Guidelines and Information
Groovy Paws Rescue has very strict rules for adopting any of our dogs.
We are not like some of the other rescues out there who will generally let anyone adopt any dog for a price. We strive for a 100% success rate in matching our dogs with their forever families.
Once your properly completed Adoption Application Form is received we will review it and begin an interview process.
If we have not spoken with you in person at an event, or elsewhere, we will call to ask a few more detailed questions and get to know you. We know our dogs but we need to know you as well.
Next, ourrepresentative will schedule aHome Visit.
The purpose of the Home Visit is for a general "look around" to see if your home will be a suitable environment for the particular dog or dogs you have requested to adopt.
Some things we will consider are:
-- Do you currently have any pets and how many? What kind of pets? We would like to meet your pets.
-- Do any of your current pets appear malnourishedor otherwise uncared for?
-- Do you have veterinarian records for your pets showing they have been spayed or neutered and are current on all of their regularly scheduled shots? We will ask to see those records.
-- Do you have children and how many? What ages? We would like to meet your children, if possible.
-- Does your home appear to be, in general, a suitable environment for one of our dogs to live comfortably?
Like people, all dogs are different. Each dog has his or her own needs, personalities, quirks, likes and dislikes.
Some dogs do not do well with children. Some do not get along with other dogs or pets. Some are very active and need somewhere outdoors to be able to run and play. Some like to jump over backyard fences (yes, we will check out your back yard, if you have one).
These reasons, and many more, are why we need to be verythoroughon our Home Visits. All things must be considered before approving an adoption..
Once the home visit is completed a determination will be made based on all of the factors discussed above.
We can then begin the paperwork and the signing of the adoption contract.
Note that there IS an adoption fee that will be due prior to your new family member being released to you.
This fee will vary from dog to dog and will normally be discussed with you during our initial conversations.
Any requested adoptioncanbe refused by Groovy Paws Rescue for any reason.
