Griggs Road Elementary
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am looking forward to your child participating in the Griggs Road Elementary Physical Education program.
A goal for all physical education students is to move skillfully and efficiently in basic locomotor, dance, and game skill patterns. I hope that their physical education experiences will lead to healthy and active lifestyles that will promote their physical skills, as well as, their social skills.
For your child’s safety and comfort, please be sure that they are dressed appropriately for the activity and the weather. Tennis shoes and shorts or slacks are the required clothing for physical education class. Sandals, boots, platform tennis shoes, and slip on “backless” tennis shoes are not acceptable. For your child’s safety, if he/she is not properly dressed for physical education, he/she will be unable to participate. Your child will earn a physical education grade based on skill assessments, written assessments, and your child being actively involved. Therefore, it is imperative that your child participates on a regular basis. If your child is temporarily unable to participate in physical activities, he/she must have a note from home, a doctor, or the school nurse. If your child has a permanent limitation that would restrict his/her ability to participate, please complete the information on the attached sheet.
The physical education/health rules and procedures were introduced and practiced in class. Please take time to review the rules and procedures with your child.
I look forward to an exciting physical education program filled with fun and challenging activities for all students. Please encourage your child to strive to do his/her very best.
