Greetings from the Brothers of Phi Kappa Theta

The Men of Phi Kappa Theta are proud to introduce to you the Man of Faith Scholarship for the fall 2017 semester. We developed this scholarship to reward three incoming male freshmen who have exemplified faith and academics as priorities throughout their high school career. The candidate does not have to be pledging Phi Kappa Theta to apply for the scholarship. However, it is important to mention that Phi Kappa Theta has a tradition of excellence in providing the complete college experience while developing men into future leaders. We are a historically-Catholic fraternity, although membership is open to men of all faiths, whose five ideals: Intellectual, Spiritual, Fraternal,Social, and Leadership form the core of everything we do.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship the applicant must fill out the application packet and attend an interview session. The application packet is comprised of an application and the submission of letters of recommendation. One letter of reference must depict academics as a priority in the applicant’s high school career. This letter may be written by a teacher, counselor or mentor and should not exceed one page. The second letter of reference should reflect the importance of faith in the applicant’s life. This letter ideally would be from someone like a mentor, youth group leader, teacher, pastor, etc. A self written essay can be substituted for this letter of recommendation and should not exceed two pages. The application packet must be postmarked byFebruary 6th, 2017. Please mail the completed packet to the chapter house at 1965 College Heights Rd Manhattan, KS 66502 or email it to me at . After the applicant has submitted the application, the Men of Phi Kappa Theta will contact the applicant about scheduling an interview time. The Men will be hosting two interview days for the applicants and the interviews will take place at the chapter house in Manhattan. The interview will be conducted by a selected scholarship panel and is a requirement to be eligible to receive the scholarship. The interview days are February 18th and 19th, 2017.

The scholarship recipients will then be notified on April 1st, 2017. There will be one $1000 scholarship and two $500 scholarships. These scholarships will be automatically be sent to Kansas State University in the name of the recipient and will be applied to the student’s fall 2017 tuition.

Thank you for taking the time to apply for this scholarship and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Ben or myself.

Sincerely,

Jacob Lowery
