Greetings and Happy Holidays to all residents of Walden Woods!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are getting excited for the upcoming holidays. First, some boring business stuff.

The Walden Woods CSA Board held its end-of-year meeting to review the budget. Good news – there will be no dues increase for 2018! I know there has been some frustration, but hopefully we’ve corrected some of the budget shortfalls. We are also continually looking for ways to save money as well as keep our Walden Woods community safe and beautiful.

One change that is coming is going to be a switch to quarterly rather than monthly payments. This will occur in 2019, to give you a chance to change over. Contact Cheryl at the office to find out about direct bank payments.

We were able to tar and chip Timber Trail, Bayberry Lane, and Walden Commons this past year. We are hoping to expand some of the parking areas in the coming year. We are also looking into ways of improving the parking areas around the townhomes. In the meantime, we ask that you please respect your townhome neighbors and not park in their spots. Another change this year was the addition of the bollard on the road up to the pavilion. This has drastically cut down on the number of reports of possibly illegal activities at the pavilion. The pavilion area is still there for Walden Woodscommunity use, so call the office if you have questions or would like to use the pavilion area.

April saw our 2nd Annual Walden Woods Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt. A big thanks to Christine and Sherry for organizing again. We’re also happy to announce our 2nd Annual Merry & Bright Holiday Light Contest, with judging on December 22nd. Thanks to Erin and Jeannie for setting this up. If you would like to get involved in Walden Woods activities, there is a WWCSA board member position open, and volunteers are always welcome. At the very least, visit our website ( and our Facebook page (Walden Woods Community).

Finally, so many people were happy to see Santa last year that the WWCSA has asked him to return again this year. With the help of the North Fayette Township Volunteer Fire Department, Santa Clause will be visiting Walden Woods on Saturday, December 16th. He’ll be cruising the neighborhood between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Kids from 1 to 92 (as Nat King Cole once said) are invited to come out.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful decorations and true holiday spirit that I’ve so come to love in Walden Woods. On behalf of the Board, I wish all of you a Merry Christmas!
