Meeting Recap

Ridgewood Rotary July 6, 2010

Scribe Harry Green

The meeting was opened by newly installed president Harris Reinstein, who immediately spoke to the need for late fines to be paid; he seemed to have a

gleam in his eye; The fines were:

Raj Gandhi - left early

Phil Wilson and Harry Green - arrived late

No visiting Rotarians, nor guests, nor make-ups noted. All of which left more food for the rest of us.

Announcements:

Phil Wilson announced the Annual

Meeting of the members of the Ridgewood Rotary Club Foundation, during the Club Assembly meeting

on July 13. The purpose of the Foundation meeting will be to elect officers to the Foundation Board

Happy Dollar: One Happy Dollar, or Happy Five Dollars to be exact, from Jerry Kallman, recently returned from a trip to Kenya with his wife, daughter,

son and daughter-in law; all of whom were so excited by the ongoing project and as a result of meeting a number of students, that Jerry's family each took

on the sponsorship of a Kenyan student to cover all four years of that person's

education. Jerry also presented Harris with a speaking stick from Kenyan,

along with the promise of a power point presentation once he and his wife have the opportunity to review the 3,000 pictures she took.

Birthdays in July; Dave Whitlock and Bob Dodds

Today's program was presented by member Dave Whitlock. The title was "Estate Planning for Non-Psychics." (Dave is a lawyer, specializing in estate

planning. He also has a Masters in taxes.) The program emphasized the current state of the estate tax field one which is complex and politically charged. In some ways it sounded as if the best we could do is cross all our fingers and toes. The speaker did provide some hand-outs which he or one of us present might copy for anyone interested.
