GVFHRA Newsletter Committee

Newsletter articles are to be fully-written, proofread, and submitted exactly as you want it to appear including a title for the article. We do NOT write the articles. We simply do layout and editing along with additional proofreading. Articles should be submitted as a Word document and on-time in accordance with the schedule on reverse to allow adequate time for this process. Please be sure to confirm any names, dates, and fees for your event(s) if applicable.

Email reminders will be sent to all committee chairs at least one week prior to each deadline date. Please make your committee aware of all the scheduled deadline dates. The Newsletter is one of the main tools used to attract members to our events – late publication often will adversely affect event attendance. This includes:

·  Dinner & Breakfast meetings

·  Greater Valley Forge HR Summit

·  Seminars

Substantial advance notice and multiple newsletter reminders will generally result in far better attendance than a single reminder a few weeks ahead of the event. 2-3 months advance notice may also allow for local newspaper PR that can further increase response and improve attendance.

Also, be sure to check the Planning Calendar to ensure adequate planning and advance notice for events that require nominations and applications such as College Scholarship, Diversity and President’s Awards. This ‘grid-style’ format should provide a handy visual ‘overview’ of our newsletter dates & needs.

Submit articles via email to both Patricia Rafferty at and Lori Stokes-Powers at www.gvfhra.org . Please indicate in the subject line “GVFHRA Newsletter Submission.” Flyers, ads and/or other materials to be included with any newsletter should also be submitted to Patricia and Lori.

Guidelines for Newsletter Articles:

·  Copy Deadlines are only 2 weeks before our required publication dates. Please be sure to submit your articles on time!

·  Articles should be 200-250 words in length in Word format.

·  Make sure you have a clear and "catchy" title.

·  If you are running a seminar, make sure your title includes the event date, location, time (registration and event length) and credits.

·  For Dinner / breakfast articles, please make sure the date, time and location are noted in the body of the article.

·  For sponsors, please let them know that their articles should be short (200 words or so) and that we need a good clean copy (.jpeg) of their logo.

·  Please make sure your articles have been edited for errors. We really have no idea as to names of people or the details of each seminar.
