Great opportunities for two full-time vets at London’s only specialist exotics private practice.
We are a proudly independent, small and friendly clinic with a 75% Exotics, 25% Cat and Dog caseload staffed by two vets, becoming three with recruitment. Exotics comprise of mainly exotic pets, with equal share of avian, reptile and small mammal plus some amphibian and ornamental fish. First opinion and referral work, plus involvement with zoological collections.
Senior Veterinary Surgeon
The ideal candidate will have experience with exotics and preferably hold further exotics qualifications. The fantastic caseload, facilities and clinical freedom would suit an advanced practitioner/ certificate holder, but equally we would like to hear from vets with some experience who would like to progress with exotics or to be supported in their pursuit of a ZooMed certificate. Four previous vets have achieved certificates at the practice. Referrals and the range of cases provides a great daily challenge, but applicants without experience in a referral setting or across all taxa shouldn't be discouraged from applying as plenty of support is available – a passion for exotics is the most important thing! Equally those having spent time away from cat and dog medicine can be provided support on this side too. We would like candidates to be integral to our practice and involvement in CPD provision, social media, written articles for owners and veterinary press and clinical research all actively encouraged.
Junior Veterinary Surgeon
We are looking for a recent graduate looking to pursue a career with exotics. The successful applicant will work closely with an RCVS Specialist with exposure to a wide range of referral and first opinion cases across taxa. You will quickly become familiar with basic handling and techniques in exotics and will be responsible for inpatient care and associated client communication. As your experience increases, you will have increasing primary case management. The small animal component should allow PDP compliance.
Both candidates should have great client communication skills and so excellent written and spoken English is essential. A full driving license is required. Small animal OV panels would be preferable. Four-day week. 1 in 2 Saturday mornings plus weekend in-patient checks with one day off in the week in-lieu. No OOH, but shared provision of telephone advice to OOH provider.
