JUST A THOUGHT…
Great day last week as we gathered for the first time at the Country Inn. Invite someone to join us and see what we’re all about. It was a new and great Spirit…!
I’m convinced that life is great! I’m blessed with a great Church, Wife, Children and Friends. But every once in a while things happen that I really need to know what the Bible has to say to me about particular situations. Some of these I cause myself – and others land on top of me.
That’s why I think this short sermon series, “How to Deal” is so important to us all. Life is not always perfect. Sometimes we find ourselves in difficult situations. How do we handle those situations? That’s what this sermon series is all about. It’s very practical. It’s very helpful. Invite someone to join us and let’s work together to see what God has to say to us!

WE’VE MOVED!
We’ve moved! As you know, we’ve been praying and talking about what’s to be our next move for Cross Church. We’ve moved to the Country Inn & Suites at 2727 Monroe Highway. AND WE’RE MEETING AT 10:45 AM! Wehave more space. Wehave more space should we need it. Wehave parking. Wehave great visibility. We’re able to use more visuals in the service. And financially, it has so much more to offer than leasing or purchasing at this time.
Talk to your friends, relatives and associates. Remember - Country Inn & Suites, 2727 Monroe Highway @ 10:45 AM.
UPWORDS
“All this I have told you so that you will not go astray,”
(John 16:1).
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight with no vision,”
(Helen Keller).
COWBOY WISDOM
In the spring if your fancy turns to the opposite sex – you’ve been wastin’ the winter.
CROSS CHURCH WEBSITE COMING SOON!
Along with the move to Country Inn, we’re also getting ready to launch our Cross Church World-Wide InterWebsite. It’s under construction now, and, along with Facebook, will give us another avenue with which to broadcast our news and invite others to join us. Watch for it!
And one more thing - We’re also looking at creating an APP for our phones that’ll keep us connected even more. Very excited about this, too!
CROSSTALK REFERENCES
If you know of someone who might like to receive “CrossTalk” each week…a friend or family member…or prospect…Just send their name and e-mail address to me () – or see me on Sunday – and I’ll make sure they get it.
“HOW TO DEAL”
NEW SERMON SERIES
COMING AUGUST 21
Many times in life we react to what’s happening around us. Some of those situations are of our own doing, while others catch us off guard. This short series of messages will speak to us about those things in life that come our way – and what does the Bible say to them.
We’re going to learn – from a biblical perspective – “HOW TO DEAL” with Misfortune, Temptation, Aging, Anger, Disappointment, Failure and Fear.
The Bible is our Guide. The Bible is our Survival Kit. The Bible is our Companion – for Everyday and Eternal Life. Invite your friends to be a part of this very practical series.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Be a part of ourChildren’s Hour! Our children have certain needs and attention spans, and we’re moving to address that need. If you’re interested in helping in this most important ministry, just see me or Tina Butterfield or Jennifer Winslett on Sunday. And bring your children on Sunday. A Sign-Up Sheet is available!
TRIVIAL PURSUITS
The two lines that connect your top lip to the bottom of your nose are known as the philtrum.
KNOW YOUR BIBLE
The earth has been completely covered with water twice: (1) At the beginning of creation (Genesis 1) and; (2) During the Great Flood (Genesis 7).
OUR DAILY BREAD
Ninety percent (90%) of all Christians have never read the Bible through. Amazing!
We’re read the Bible through as a Church Family…chronologically, that is, as it occurs. The Bible does not come to us historically year by year, but moves about – History, Wisdom & Poetry, Prophecy, Gospels, Letters, Revelation. We’ll be reading about three chapters a day and we’ll see the presentation of God’s love to us throughout history…
Monday, August 15: Zephaniah 1-3;Tuesday, August 16: Jeremiah 1-3; Wednesday, August 17:Jeremiah 4-6; Thursday, August 18:Jeremiah 7-9; Friday, August 19: Jeremiah 10-13; Saturday, August 20: Jeremiah 14-17; Sunday, August 21: Jeremiah 18-22.
CROSS CHURCH MISSIONS OPPORTUNITIES
Little Things Can Mean a Lot
Pill Bottles
In developing nations like Malawi, there aren’t enough pill bottles to go around. It’s often that tissue paper is used to wrap up medicine (pills & tablets) to send home with patients.
Wonder what to do with those empty pill bottles when they’re empty? Peal off the personal information label and bring them with you to Church. We’ll gather them up and send along to The Malawi Project for distribution.
That’s all you have to do to make a big difference in someone’s life. Thanks!
Hotel Sundries
Gather up those hotel soaps and shampoos and bring them to Church with you. These small contributions make a big difference in the life of a family with immediate personal needs through our local homeless shelters.
Soda Can Tabs
Soda can tabs make a difference in a child’s life at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis. We all know someone whose life has been altered at St. Jude’s. Bring those tabs along with you each week!
PRAYER REQUESTS
Let’s talk about prayer requests…If you have any prayer requests you’d like to share with our group – and I know not all prayer requests ought to be made public – send them along to me, along with their relation to you (Example: Don Porter, Cousin to Steve Fowler). I’ll post them here and we can know where our hearts are coming from on a regular basis.
