POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Worship Leader is responsible for planning and leads music at the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services. ing Informal/Praise Music at Harmony United Methodist Church (HUMC). The Worship Leader works with the Pastor, Choir Director/Organist, and Informal Music Leader as a within a cooperative team to:

Ø  Encourage and empower the members of the church to claim, develop, and employ their God-given gifts to glorify God and engage in music ministry;

Ø  Support the pastor in planning and leading worship that is inspirational, engaging, and excellent.; and,

Ø  Guide the leaders and participants in the music ministry in their response to God in commitment and service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø  Strong vocal skills amdand ability Able to play the guitar. Keyboard skills would be considered. (or possibly the keyboard) and sing

Ø  StrongCommanding presence Comfortable leading praise songs and directing the congregation in singing same

Ø  Experience leading church music programs

Ø  Strong Solid leadership and interpersonal skills for working within a team, and developing new teams

Ø  Committed to excellence in worship as opposed to a particular style of music

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)  Plan and lead the praise songs at our Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 11 am.

2)  Recruit/Organize/Rehearse the currently uncommitted music talent in our church to offer diverse music offerings in support of the praise music and possibly at the service where the choir is not present.

3)  Work with the Choir Director/Organist and Informal Music Leader to successfully implement music ministry programs.

4)  Responsible for choosing and purchasing all necessary music and music supplies within an established budget.

Salary:

The Worship Leader’s salary shall be established by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, reviewed by the Finance Committee, and approved by the Church Council.

Hours:

The Worship Leader will work 4 hours a week for a minimum of 48 weeks a year.
