Job Title: Accounting Clerk Level II

Summary: Intermediate-level clerical job in the Accounting Department. Performs more complex checking, balancing and calculating operation on one or more segments in a complete and systematic set of records or accounts. Requires some judgment in applying or interpreting established work procedures. Works under direct supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·  Checks and approves all vouchers for payment.

·  Also prepares invoice deduction notices, as necessary.

·  Audits freight bills against freight manifests.

·  Answers all vendor inquiries.

·  Processes accounts payable checks.

·  Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.

·  Processes accounts receivable invoices.

·  Processes monthly commission checks

·  Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.

·  Assists in monthly closings.

·  Assists with special projects, as necessary.

·  Mail and fax invoices and checks as needed.

·  Files accounts receivable check stubs

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2-4 years of general accounting experience and/or and understanding of basic accounting principles or completion of a post-high school technical program and limited experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Accounting software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
