“What Happened To My Password?”
Updating Your Applicant Login Password at Grants.gov

Due to a system modification, all Users’ Passwords at Grants.gov must be updated. This is a Step-by-step approach on how to update your Grants.gov Password

Grants.gov is your source to FIND and APPLY for federal government grants. This website is the access point for all of your Federal Grants.

In February 2009, Grants.gov reset their system, nullifying all Users’ Passwords. Consequently, all Users are required to reset their Passwords.

It is vital that you update your Password information as soon as possible; waiting until you are about to submit a Grant Application could delay the submission of your grant, possibly causing you to miss the deadline for your grant application.

Although TLC would gladly reset your password for you, this procedure is something that only you are authorized to do. However, TLC has put together this package to help you reset your Grants.gov Password. If you have any questions, or need assistance, you may contact Grants.gov at:

1-800-518-4726 – available Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Eastern Time, closed on Federal Holidays.

Please have the following information available when contacting Grants.gov to help expedite your inquiry:

·  Funding Opportunity Number (FON)

·  Name of Agency You Are Applying To (HRSA)

·  Specific Area of Concern (Resetting your Password)

Of course, we are always here to help you through this process, so please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance as well.

Step 5. (continued)

Applicant Login

USERNAME (case sensitive):

PASSWORD (case sensitive):

I Forgot My Password

Step 6.  On the Applicant Login screen, enter your Username, and choose I Forgot My Password.

Please Note: at times, instead of this screen appearing, grants.gov will take you to a blank screen. If that happens, close the window and start again by opening your web browser, going to www.grants.gov and start again at Step #3.

Step 7.  On the next screen, you will be asked to enter your Username. Before doing this, have your previous Grants.gov Security Question and Answer in front of you; you may need it for Step 8. Now enter only your Username and press Enter.

Step 8.  At this point, one of two actions will occur:

SECURITY QUESTION / EMAIL
The system will ask you your Grants.gov Security Question. If answered correctly, the system will open to an update page. On that page, follow these steps:
·  Update the information, including a new security question and answer, then press Enter
·  The screen will list all of the information that you entered for your review. Please review to ensure that it is accurate
·  Print this page before submitting, and store the printed page in a safe place. Your security question will appear on this page, and you will want to have this information available for access at a later date
·  Submit the information
·  The next screen will list all of your information, only this time, at the bottom of the screen will be opened Password fields. Choose a new password and enter it in both password fields. Press Continue. / The system will generate a new password for you and will immediately send it to the email address on file.
Go to your email program. If you do not see the email from grants.gov, check your SPAM or JUNK MAIL folder. (Your SPAM or JUNK MAIL filters may not have shut off when you made the initial attempt to disable them.)
You new Password will be in that email. Record it, go back to grants.gov & continue at Step #3 listed above.
Enter your Username and the new system-generated Password. The system will open to an update page.

Step 9.  At this point, you have successfully completed resetting your Grants.gov Password. Please keep this new Password and the User Update Page information in a safe place. Please also forward all of this information to TLC, so that we may have it for our files, and this will allow us access to your account for grant submissions purposes only.
