Globalization: Analyzing Trade Agreements
Learning Goal: To analyze selected international trade agreements and what countries attempt to gain by entering into these agreements.
Introduction:
Economic activity and international trade are major components of globalization. Living in such an interconnected world has allowed us to be selective with which nations we trade with, and why. International trade is vital to Canada and Canadians as it influences our economic, social, political and environmental well-being
Task:
For this task, you will be investigating one international trade agreement and evaluating its effectiveness with its trading partners. Please create a slideshow for your chosen agreement and be sure to analyze the following:
- Name of Trade Agreement
- Who it involves
- Purpose of the agreement (i.e. why did some countries enter the agreement?) and what products it involves
- How has the agreement affected the countries involved?
- Has this agreement had impacts on other trade partners not involved in the agreement? Explain.
- Do you think that this agreement is advantageous to some countries and not others? Explain.
- On the last slide(s) you will analyze and answer this Question: Based on your research, do you think that this agreement was and is a good idea for the parties involved? What are your thoughts?
Trade Agreements:
Canada - EFTA
NAFTA
Canada-Honduras FTA
APEC
CKFTA
Requirements for your slideshow:
-Include a map illustrating the location of the countries involved
