Meeting Minutes for January 25, 2008

Bullhead City, Arizona

Those present: Bruce Ray, Ray La Haye, Pat Clingman, Mike Baker, Adam Sessions, Jack Judd, Dave Nichols, Roger Brooks, Randy Pluimer, Homer Rogers, Terry Ford, Mike Scheu, Woody Lewis, Jeff Johnson, Lisa Wood, John Farnol, Jim Fox, Lee Creiglow.

Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 9:10A.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the invocation given by Bruce Ray.

Approval of minutes from November 16, 2007: The minutes were amended to reflect that Joe Mendoza and Lee Creiglow were present. The minutes were approved by all.

Treasurer’s report: Homer Rogers gave the Treasurer’s report. The chapter has a balance of $11,447.83 in the account.

Self introduction of Members and guest: All members and guest introduce themselves

·  Guest Speaker: Terry Ford reported his on Green Building Certification, Energy Code and other programs associated with the topic.

· 

·  Old Business: By Laws shows number on the board as 9, need to change by laws to include the extra member.

·  New Business:

o  Dues/New Members: No new members present.

o  Nomination and Election for three seats on the Board of Directors. The following were nominated and elected to the Board of Directors. Jeff Johnson, nominated by Homer, second by Woody, Terry Ford, nominated by Jack, second by Adam, Mike Scheu, nominated by Pat, second by John. All members present approved.

o  Ratification of appointment of Ray La Haye to ICC Ad Hoc Committee; Homer made a notion to ratify the appointment of Ray La Haye to ICC Ad Hoc Committee. Woody made a second. All approved.

o  Code Issues – Pat asked if anyone had any experience with Perform Wall and if there is any ICC Testing and approval. Mike Baker discussed the failed earthen structure in Prescott behind Lowes; Mike contributes the failure to the irrigations system and vegetation that was installed on the top of the structure.

o  AZBO Update Ray La Haye gave an update on the Spring Institute and has recommend that a class be held for specifically for building officials. As many jurisdictions are suffering budget cuts Ray suggested that scholarships be offered. If anyone is in need of a scholarship they are to have the names turned into Bruce by Feb 26th, 2008 for approval.

o  ICC Update Dave Nichols reported that ICC is staying neutral on the code change to health care facilities (NFPA 101 conflict with NFPA 500. It is felt that this is a back door attempt to give credit to NFPA 500. Code Change G22 IFC will also conflict which will create more conflict at the local level.

o  Good of the Order Terry comments on Unisource Gas, that they would not provide service to sealed units if they were not elevated. This is not a juristicon decision if it meets the adopted code.

o  Raffle Ray won a book and Adam won $20.00

o  Adjournment: After lunch the meeting was adjourned at 1:00 P.M.
