Joint Winners in LOGO Competition for New Outdoor Activity Centre in “Pitch n Putt” Area

As you are aware the Barrow Valley Development Committee are embarking on a fundraising campaign to support the completion of the Outdoor Tourism Centre located at the back of Duiske College in the pitch and putt area.

As it is on the grounds of Duiske College, being the anchor tenant, it is fast becoming a unique selling point for Duiske College and also the greater Graignamanagh and South-east environs, making this building a real asset to our town. There is already much interest in the Centre, which can be further capitalised upon as soon as we get the doors open.

As part of the Patricks Day festivities and for the follow up days afterwards, 1st and Transition year Students embarked on a logo competition, designing and creating fabulous works of art, highlighting the beauty of Graignamanagh and what we have to offer. All of their logos were on display in the Library for the past two weeks and have been duly voted on by members of community. On Tuesday night, 4th of April, the results were counted and we are pleased to announce that we have joint winners for the Logo Competition-

The winning students are-

No. 10 = Eimear Ryan

And

No.4 =Ana Malinero

Congratulations to you both, your logos were excellent. We would like to thank all students who got involved. Based on the standard of the logos submitted the committee have designed that all will form a feature in the Outdoor Activity Centre once the doors are opened. All students will also be receiving a little “Thank you” gift later this week from the committee prior to your Easter Holidays.

Again thanks to everyone involved

Duiske College Accommodation Panel

Duiske College is currently taking contact details that can be given to Adult Education students who need to live in Graiguenamanagh while doing our Adult Education courses. More and more people are coming to Graiguenamanagh to take our courses and we are regularly asked about accommodation locally. Therefore, we hope to establish a panel of contact details from which the students can choose the accommodation that will best suit them.

Please be aware of the following:

·  Students may range in age from 17 years upwards, both male and female.

·  Students are in Graig for the school year (September to June, with school holidays).

·  Some students may only need 3 nights’ accommodation per week (Arrive on Monday, and leave on Thursday).

·  Duiske College will simply pass on the contact details to the student and all arrangements are made between the student and the owner of the accommodation.

·  Duiske College will not know the students before the academic year starts and therefore we cannot be held responsible for the actions of any student.

·  Putting your contact details on the panel list does not guarantee that a student will choose your accommodation.

If you are interested in adding your contact details to our panel, please complete the form on the next page.

This form is also available on our website http://www.duiskecollege.ie/adult-education/application-form-further-education/

and can be emailed to

Thank you.
