TRYOUT & EVALUATION: The tryout process for 2017 will begin on October 2, 2017 and last approximately one month (month of October). Player evaluation criteria includes; overall skill level, effort, attitude and the recognition as being a “team player”. Each level will attempt to have a minimum of three evaluators, which may include the following: coaches from the level being evaluated, higher level A coaching staff, and other past or present coaches that have no player being evaluated.

MULTISPORT AND MULTIACTIVITY ATHLETES: GRAHA is 100% in support of multisport and multiactivity athletes, and encourages all of its players to participate in fall activities. Any player that has school sponsored conflicts with scheduled tryouts WILL NOT be punished, scrutinized or otherwise questioned. Parents and/or players should notify the Head Coach of the player’s level of any such conflicts and any and all reasonable accommodations will be provided to such players.

TRYOUT SESSIONS: The goal of tryouts is to place each player in the appropriate level based on their current level of skill. Evaluators are strongly encouraged to concentrate on the on-ice activity during the evaluations. Drills and scrimmages for each session will demonstrate the skill level and hockey ability for each player and allow evaluators to assess all players.

Attendance (Illness/Injury/etc.): If a player cannot attend a tryout session or sessions due to illness or injury, a physician’s statement/slip may be submitted. A fall school activity that may interfere with tryouts is an excused absence. If the illness or injury prevents a player from participating in 50% of the tryout sessions, the player will be evaluated as best they can be to where their final team placement. The decision of placement will be determined by the coaches of the affected teams. If a player is affected by excused attendancesand previously played at that level, they will not be moved to down.
