Welcome students and parents! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer. We have a very exciting year ahead of us!
Course Material: You will find a pacing guide on my school website. It lists all of the standards/objectives that we will cover throughout the year. Students will also receive a book in class.
Grading: Grades will be calculated in the following way:
- Assessments – 60%
- Quizzes & Tasks– 30 %
- Classwork/Homework/Participation – 10 %
Materials: You will need to bring the following to class EVERY DAY:
3-ring binder FOR THIS CLASS ONLY
5 dividers
Loose-leaf paper
Pencils
3-hole Graph Paper
4-function calculator
Homework: Students should expect homework at least three nights a week. It is extremely important for students to complete these assignments every night in order to be successful. Homework should not take more than 20 minutes on average, and the problems will be assigned in class that day.
Classroom Rules: There are 5 rules to follow in my classroom. They are:
- Come to class on time, with all materials and a positive attitude.
- Respect yourself, others, and your environment.
- Request and receive permission before getting out of your seat or addressing the class.
- Electronics are not allowed on in the classroom unless stated otherwise by the teacher and BYOD.
- Follow all classroom rulesand procedures.
**Minor infractions will result in a verbal warning. If the misbehavior continues, the parent or guardian will be contacted, and after a third time, a write up. Major infractions such as skipping class and violence will be an automatic write up and trip to the office.
Classroom Procedures:
- Beginning the Period – Enter the classroom before the bell rings, and sit in your assigned seat. Grab any necessary materials from the material station. Finally, begin to work on the Bell Ringerfor the day.
- Heading Your Paper – Every paper you turn in will be headed as follows:
NAMEDATE
ASSIGNMENT TITLEPERIOD
- Attendance – It is so important for you to be in class EVERY SINGLE DAY! Roll will be taken in the first five minutes of class, while students are working on their bell ringer. You will have no more than 5 days to turn in your make up work.
- Make Up Work – Students are allowed 5 days after they return to turn in any make up work. There will be a grade of 1.00 for any missing assignments until you make up the work. If you missed a test for any reason, you will be able to make these up during PE.
- Homework –Homework will be checked the day after it is assigned. Answers will be posted, and any questions will be handled at this time.
- Tests –Students should expect quizzes weekly, and tests bi-weekly. There is NO TALKING during tests. Talking while a test is out is considered cheating, and will result in a grade of ZERO for that test.
- Binders – Each student must have a 3-ring binder or 5-subject notebook that is for MY CLASS ONLY. You will need 5 dividers labeled: BELL-RINGERS, NOTES, CLASSWORK, HOMEWORK, and HANDOUTS.
