Undergraduate students planning to conduct research or creative projects during summer 2015 are invited to apply for anURSA Student Funding Awards of up to $5000.Activity supported by these awards will be conducted through August 21, 2015. Goals
Provide a concise listing of your project objectives, creative purpose or research hypothesis.
Background and Significance
Provide a brief background using supporting literature and describe the rationale and significance of the proposed study.
Design and Methodology
Summarize the design of the project and describe the methods, procedures and/or protocols planned to achieve the goals. Describe any equipment or facilities that will be used.Provide a timeline of the project work including a schedule of mentorship (frequency and objectives of meetings between student and mentor).
Anticipated Outcomes
Describe the anticipated outcome: expected findings or any products/deliverables that will result from your work.
Mentoring
Describe the faculty mentor’s role and/or participation in the project.
Budget
Itemize and total your projected expenses. You may request up to $5000 for salary, stipend, project supplies or services, tuition for up to 3 undergraduate resident credit hours, travel, informant fees, etc.
URSA Student Funding Awardees are required to: 1) complete training for the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) (see ), 2) be listed on the mentor’s approved protocol, IRB or IACUC, whichever covers the proposed project, 3) create a poster presenting project outcomes, and 4) email an electronic version of the poster to by August 21, 2015.

All proposals will be reviewed based on: 1) written quality of the proposal and quality of the work plan, 2) intellectual merit or scholarly contribution of the project and its potential outcomes, 3) adequate faculty mentor involvement, and 4) feasibility of completion within the given timeline. The project can extend past August 21, 2015, but funding must be spent and the poster must be completed by that date. Student GPA is considered but to a lesser degree. Selections will be made by the URSA Advisory Board and URSA Director.
