INTRODUCTION – Robert Buccini called the meeting to order at 10:10a.m.
MINUTES – Minutes of the September 25, 2012meetingwere approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Child Care Apprenticeship – Debbie Taylorannounced that Paula Holloway has been named the new TEACH Childcare Coordinator for the State of Delaware.She shared with the attendees a handout on the Delaware Early Childhood Career Lattice. This document links the individual’s education with their compensation.
USDOL – Bob Laudemanwas not present at this meeting.

DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:Kevin Calio provided a month-to-month summary of activity.

Some questions were raised with regard to various reasons apprentices are terminated. Considerable additional discussion followed regarding childcare apprenticeship and the completion rates for its various sponsors. In general, childcare apprenticeship completion rates have always been low in comparison to any of the other trades.
PUBLIC COMMENTS AND ISSUES: Harry Gravell posed a question with regard to apprentice hours for an individual working in more than one trade. Kevin Calio indicated that all sponsors are advised to report only hours worked in the trade in which the apprentice is registered. Additional comments ensued regarding the veracity of the hours worked reported. Bob Carl raised several questions regarding County Insulation Co. These will be looked at prior to the next meeting.
MISCELLANEOUS: Kevin Calio pointed out that the next meeting of the Council will be held on March 12, 2013 at the Pencader Corporate Common Offices, located off of Route 896. Additional information will be forwarded prior to the next meeting.
