GAC Shirts

Please send Marcus the symbol or design for your organization. The front of the T-shirt will say Governor’s Administrative Cabinet. On the back it will have the Director’s name and position. The design has to be submitted within two weeks.

Stress Week

T-shirt design contest for Stress Week. The students will submit designs and the GAC will decide on the design. The forms must be submitted by Monday, February 22nd 2010.

COSO

Wants to show how hard it is to allocate money for all the requests they get. She showed the minutes from the last COSO meeting and thinks that they are going to fall short of their requests.

Marni Sherman: How much money do you think you are going to need for the rest of the semester?

Josephine Severe: We have 6 meetings left and have already allocated $11,000 and have $22, 000 left.

Marni: Back to the original question, what’s an estimate of what you need?

Josephine Severe: $20,000

Ryan Ebanks: Suggests that Terry Mena and the Speaker of the House should be invited to attend GAC Meetings.

A meeting to clarify all the COSO issues will be held with Terry Mena, Alan Pollock, Marni Sherman and Josephine Severe.

Marni Sherman: Asks for complaints to be included in the COSO minutes.

Josephine Severe: There is a complaint on the minutes under Open Forum.

Marcus Washington: Most of the complaints have been coming from the House of Representatives

Marketing

Requests for every program’s calendar and any type of logos as well as times to be available to meet. It will only be a 10 minute meeting. He wants to know how they want to advertise events.

He asks for any suggestions from the GAC for the GAC Shirts.

Josephine: COSO doesn’t have a logo.

Marcus Washington: It does have a logo, but it’s old.

BSUMP

Black history is half way done. Yesterday they had the poetry night , Heart Break Hotel at Coyote Jack’s.

They are having the Bounce, Roll and Skate on Thursday 18th

Black-A-Demics on February 24th at Coyote Jack’s

The Owl Family Reunion BBW will be the last Black History Month event in the Housing Lawn on February 26th in the housing lawn.

Program Board

The Black Violin concert and Cupid’s Crush dance had great turnout

The Sex Rules Educational Forum is at 8pm in SU on February 16th.

The dance Competition with Mission Green for Wednesday was cancelled.

They are having one more black history month event: Java Jive and are working on the 5th sunshine classic step show, which is scheduled for Saturday April 17th

Night Owls

Hours have changed: Open from 7 to 10:30pm

Numbers for January: They moved a total of 1777 people

Office hours are PM not AM.

The name on the Student Government website for the Director of Night Owls needs to be changed.

SAVI

February 27th (9am to 3pm): Home Safeis a place that provides services for abused and neglected children. Volunteers will be meeting at 9am in front of the SU and lunch will be provided. Spots are still open.

February 18th: Get more people to sign up for the Locks of Peace event.

Ryan Ebanks: Suggests and event known as Christmas in April, which is meant to help the elderly.

March 7th through 11th: Alternative spring break; they are working with Habitat for Humanity and camping in Key West.

PET

They had the 19th annual sexually responsible bed race, in which 16 clubs and organization participated.

On Tuesday they have an event with Program Board at 8pm in the Barry Kaye auditorium.

Wednesday 24th (10am to 2pm): Safer Spring Break. It’s festival style to teach the FAU community how to stay safe during spring break. If anyone is interested in having a table in the event, e-mail Nicolle. It’s going to be in the Traditions Plaza.

GSA

Hired new associate director.

GSA Advisory meeting at 4pm today

February 19th : Casino Night at 6pm. Katie is reserving 10 seats for the GAC.

March 26th: etiquette event at Mariposa in the Town Center Mall.

April 9th:Research Day. They have received about 70 abstracts.

Marni Sherman: How is the alcohol being Funded?

Katie Burke: The Alumni Association is buying the alcohol because A&S fees cannot fund alcohol.

Treasurer

He cannot give out the budgets to the programs. Specific people have to go the office and request it.

He wants to reinforce that all the paper work should be turned-in two weeks in advance.

If you use a Cotsco card, you have to return it within a day or $50 will be charged to your account. The GAC can use the Cotsco card for specific events. Each director may use the card.

Chief of Staff

Asked the GAC to wait until the Director has given their report to begin asking questions.

Marcus Inquired about a color printer for the GAC.

Assistant Director

He will send out the calendar events on Sundays, so that everyone knows the events for the week.

Open Forum

Alex Johnson

Next Week Thursday 18th events, Debate. The meet and greet will be in the intermission of the events. Location TBA.

Elections will be on the breezeway and SU on February

ASU is having their New Year’s celebration next week.

Sylvia Cano: I would like for all the directors to attend the debates.

Catherine Girardot

She is the chairperson for Up till Dawn and would like to invite the GAC to attend an event that will be

held on March 26th at 7pm in the Rec Center.

Governor’s Report

Asked about the office hours provided by the directors because she had a meeting yesterday with Heather regarding office hours. If you are not going to be in office hours or out for a while, just leave a note.

Requested copies for Program meeting minutes.

Marcus Washington: suggests a sign-in sheet to be posted outside the offices’ doors.
