Governor News ….

This term the Governors welcomed 2 new members on board and they have fully embraced the role! This is how Alan Krailing has spent his first half term as a Kyson Governor….

On the4th December Jane and I completed our New Governor Induction Training which gave an excellent overview of the role and some great tips to help uson our way.

I have also spent some time with our new school caretaker Dave Rose identifying schoolmaintenance priorities to ensure that the school facilities are keptin the best possiblecondition.

I was really pleased to be able to attend Year 1 and 2's brilliant Christmas play 'Children of the World' giving us an extremely entertaining view of how different cultures celebrate Christmas. It was wonderful to see all the children performing so well and everyone (cast and audience)enjoying themselves so much. Congratulations to everyone involved for all your hard work!

World War 2 Exhibition

On Friday the 24th November, a very special occasion took place in the school hall at Kyson. Sixty Year 6 children held an exhibition to proudly present their World War II homework projects.

On entering the hall, visitors were greeted by a loud buzz of excitement and an explosion of colour – they were in for a treat! The children had created the most marvellous projects, the breadth of which was just incredible. Topics included: evacuees, rationing, D-Day, Coding, the bombing of Pearl Harbour, The Blitz, Inspirational women, a holocaust survivor, planes, tanks, the Bouncing Bomb, the role of the Navy, Anne Frank, WW2 in Poland , the Battle of Crete and even fashion. The quality of the children’s work was breathtaking! We saw models, posters, books, Power Points, interactive displays, models wearing clothing, examples of food and even a sponge cake!

What was particularly impressive was the way the children engaged so confidently with their visitors, “Would you like me to tell you about my project?”

As the visitors left, time and time again, their response was one of awe and amazement of what they had seen. A huge congratulation to Year 6 on a brilliant afternoon!
