GoToWebinar Help Document

To attend this online training, you will need a computer with Internet access (for viewing the visual presentation) and a telephone (to hear the audio portion of the presentation). System requirements for PC and Mac users are listed below.

For PC:

  • Internet Explorer 5.0 or later, Netscape Navigator 6.0 or later or Mozilla Firefox 1.0 or later
  • Windows® 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, 2003 Server or Vista
  • Cable modem, ISDN, DSL or better Internet connection(high speed internet connection is needed)
  • Minimum of Pentium 400 with 512MB of RAM (Recommended)
  • Java Virtual Machine enabled (Recommended)
  • Most recent version of Java (Free download at

For Mac:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) or newer
  • Safari 1.3 or newer, Firefox 1.5 or newer on PowerPC G3/G4/G5 or Firefox 1.5.0.2 or newer on Intel (JavaScript and Java enabled)
  • Cable modem, ISDN, DSL or better Internet connection(high speed internet connection is needed)
  • Power PC G3/G4/G5 or Intel processor (G4 450 MHz with 512 MB of RAM)

Using GoToWebinar with personal firewalls:

If you have a personal firewall (ZoneAlarm®, Norton Personal Firewall™, etc.) installed, make sure that GoToWebinar is not being blocked. If so, unblock GoToWebinar and try again.

Additionally, you can enable your personal firewall so that GoToWebinar can access the Internet every time you need it to.

Enabling GoToWebinar to access the Internet:

The first time you run GoToWebinar on a PC that has a firewall installed, you will set off the firewall and be prompted to allow GoToWebinar to access the Internet.

1. Select the check box to “Remember the answer each time I use this program.”

2. Click “Yes” to enable GoToWebinar to access the Internet.

Using GoToWebinar within a Business Environment:

If you do not have a personal firewall but are in a "Business Environment," you may have a hardware firewall. Please provide the document found at to your IT department so that they may allow GoToMeeting/GoToWebinar to connect.

To access the visual aspectof the presentations:

To enter the webinar, simply follow the registration link. On the day of the training, you will need to click on the webinar registration link for that day about 10-15 minutes before the start time so that any issues that arise can be resolved before the training begins.

The registration link will direct you to the short registration form in which you will need to enter your name, email address, school/district affiliation, and job title. Fill out the form and click the “Register Now” button. The GoToWebinar plug-in will download, andthe webinar viewerand control panel will open (there is an example screen shot below). The webinar presenter’s screen will appear on your screen in the webinar viewer.

To access the audioaspect of the presentations:

You will need to call the toll free telephone number and enter the access code (also called the passcode), followed by the “#” sign. No sound will come through your computer system. For thetraining, the toll free number is (866) 285-7778 and the access code is 4456917. This information will also be listed under the “Webinar Info” bar in the GoToWebinar control panel.

It is suggested that you make a note of this telephone number and access code.

If you have any problems with either the audio or video during the training, please call our Help Desk at (502) 852-2182. If you have a question and do not need immediate assistance, you may e-mail . To alternate between seeing the webinar in a window or in full screen mode, click on the button circled in the image below.

To hide the control panel, click on the button circled in the image below (this is called the “grab tab”).

To open the control panel back up, click on the button circled in the image below.

You will need to have the “Question and Answer” chat window open in order to send questions to (and view responses from) the organizer during the webinar. You will also need to have this window open to receive any text communication that the organizer may need to send during the webinar (such as an alternate phone number to dial if the audio communication is interrupted). This window is closed by default. To open up this chat window, click on the arrow circled in the image below.

With the Question and Answer chat window open, the control panel will look like this:

If you have any questions, type them in the “Enter a question for the staff” box. When you are ready to submit your question, click on the “Send” button. Submitted questions and answers will appear in the “Question and Answer” box.
