Q. Think of a time when you sensed that you should have shared the gospel with someone and didn’t. Why didn’t you?

We often fear man, more than we fear God.

If you’re like me, you care about what others think of you, and the last thing you want is for people to think you’re areligious fruitcake.

While it’s good to be concerned about having a reputation of integrity, the “fear of man” is from Satan, and will constantly attempt to discourage you and destroy your enthusiasm to talk to people about Jesus Christ.

DIS – COURAGE= to take away your courage

(Ray Comforts book: Overcoming Panic Attacks)

William Gurnall said,

“We fear men so much, because we fear God so little. One fear causes another. When man’s terror scares you, turn your thoughts to the

wrath of God.”

Spurgeon said, “get on fire and people will come to watch you burn!”

Lets Look at the Fear of Paul

1Corin. 2:1-4

“And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,”

There are 4 Qualifications to be witness for Christ!

1) Not eloquence of speech

2) Weakness

3) Fear

4) Much Trembling

Paul said that when he reached out to the Corinthian Church with the gospel, he did so not with excellency of speech or of wisdom.

Lets Look at another of Paul’s stories of fear.

2 Corin. 7:5

“For even when we came into Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were afflicted at every turn—fighting without and fear within.”

2 Corin. 12:7-9

“So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh,a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Paul asked for deliverance from this demonic attack three times. Yet, God chose to leave him with it!

Some say Paul’s thorn in the flesh was sickness, but that doesn’t seem what the Bible teaches. It says, “messenger of satan (a demon) that buffeted him (harass him). Buffeted means “dwarf” in the Greek.

God wanted to us Paul, but He didn’t want him to fall through pride and fail in his calling. The demonic oppression was to keep him humble.

Remember this: Satan fires arrow only at those who have potential for the kingdom of God.

Q. Do you have arrows being shot at you?

In 1 Corn. 2:1-4 Paul confided that he had “weakness.”He had “fear” resulting in “much trembling.”

Paul battled the FEAR OF MAN.This is also the…Paul who was in Christ’s presence!!!

Go to Handout“Next time feel God can’t use you.”

To be dismayed or discouraged is to dishonor God.

Since God is always with us, we must never lose courage.

Remember Satan is just a creation of the Almighty God. He’s got as much chance of defeating God as you would! It’s NOT going to happen.

My encouragement to you…

The book of Rev. 1:16 says of the Glorified Risen Jesus,

“…from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword,”

Soldier of Christ,

(you know we are His soldiers 2 Tim. 2:3-4) Through away your sheath; its NOT a part of your armor. Your sword, the Word of God, should always be at the ready. Read you Bible Daily.

You want to know where a Christian is at… ask him how often he/she reads the Bible.

There is power in the Word of God. When the light of the Word is spoken, the darkness of the enemy must vanish.

Quote God’s Word when in Fear.

Psalm 91:1-2

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

Hebrews 13:6

“So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;what can man do to me?"

1 John 4:4

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Most importantly when you get caught in FEAR think back to your Gethsemane experience from the last lesson…when you gave it ALL over to the Lord!

Luke 12:5

“But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him!”

This though may also help you get rid of the fear of man and replace it with the fear of God.

Tonight we are going to look at two other tools that will help you with your Fears….

#1 Ice Breakers (tracts)

#2 Con-science (Ally placed by God)

(Con= with Science=knowledge in the Greek)

WATCH LESSON #3 Video (Part 1)

Cover Ice Breakers

Q. Why is it ok to use tracts?

A.Because God uses tracts!

Q. Has anyone ever handed you a tract?

Q. What are some places we can leave tracts?

Role Play

Break-up into pairs of two or three. Must get with someone you don’t know preferable someone of the same sex.

-Practice handing out tracts

Did you get one of these?

Great job keep the change. (money tracts)

Illusion tracts

There are also some great opening questions that you can use to break from the natural to the spiritual…like….

What is happening spiritually in your life?

Do you have a Christian background?

Where do you go to Church?

When you die, what is on the other side?

Why do you wear that Cross?

On the day you die, what do you think will be the most important thing to you?

Where do you see yourself in 5yrs….in 20yrs…in 200yrs?

BREAK

WATCH LESSON #3 Video (Part 2)

Q. How is man at war against God?

Don’t forget we have a God-given ‘Ally; in the battle for \
