Dear Parents

Good Luck Mrs Apomah

Mrs Apomah leaves work today to start her maternity leave for her baby due very soon! We wish her all the best and hope she gets some rest before Baby A arrives! Good Luck!

Christmas Performances

Your children have probably been talking about their rehearsals for their Christmas performances. They are working really hard to make the productions special. Can I ask that a maximum of 2 family members come along to the performances. If you are coming with a toddler or baby, please could you sit towards the rear of the hall near the exit so if your child becomes restless you can take them out. It would be a shame for any parent to miss their child say their special line because of a restless baby. I look forward to seeing you.

Choir

Our school choir will be performing at the Metro Centre on Tuesday 13th December at 12noon (we think outside of Primark).

Tyne Tees Television

Tyne Tees television will be in school on Monday 12th December filming and interviewing children (details to follow)

School Uniform

The new uniform is now well embedded in school and this term has been transition between old and new. From January the old logo will not be part of our school uniform and therefore should not be worn for school.

Parking

Please can I ask that no parent parks in our car park between 8:30 and 9am and 3 and 3:45pm. If you do come into the carpark at other times please be mindful of children and other visitors crossing the road. Maximum speed limit is 5MPH.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE CARPARK FOR CHRISTMAS PRODUCTIONS. Thank you

A local resident has also requested that parents park considerately as drives have been blocked. This has also been on Whickham Residents Facebook page. Thank you

Years 3 – 6

From January children in years 3-6 will finish the school day at 3:20pm as previously stated in earlier newsletters.

We also need toilet rolls for our cut and stick area. Thanks.

A reminder about our Christmas visit to see Santa on Wednesday 14thDecember. Please make sure your child has appropriate footwear and clothing for this visit. Your child must wear their school jumper and polo shirt. If you haven't already requested a packed lunch please send this in with your child on the day of the visit.

If your child is a narrator in our school nativity please send in their named Christmas jumper in a named carrier bag no later than Tuesday 6th December. All other costumes will be provided within school for the nativity.

Number Ninjas 2016/17

Year 6 children took part in the Number Ninja Competition this morning in our school hall. Other schools that participated were Kells Lane, Harlow Green and Dunston Hill. We all had a great morning of challenges and our Front Street children did us proud as always. The winning pair was Catherine Harness and Hadley Edgar, closely followed by Josh Dunn and Calum Griggs with Jessica Daverson and Sarah Alwari in bronze position. As a school, their points total was also the highest. GO TEAM FRONT STREET! The children would like to send their thanks out to Dr. Harness who baked them a very special Number Ninja Cake! Year 5 Number Ninjas will be held at Kells Lane School in the spring term. Club dates will be sent out after Christmas to those involved.

Years 3 & 4 Christmas Play

Just areminder, all children in Year 3 and 4 need a winter jumper for their Christmas play. This does not need to be a Christmas jumper. All jumpers need to be brought into school by Friday 8th December.Previously, we did ask all children to wear a hat and scarf, however, with the number of people in the hall we expect the temperature to increase and feel the children could overheat so these items are no longer required. If anyone has any inflatable musical instruments, can we please borrow them? Michael Buble has also got the better of us so we have had to change a couple of songs during rehearsals. I'm sure the children will be practising them all at home.Looking forward to seeing you there.
