Going to New Heights to Support Downtown Duluth

Some organizations hold silent auctions, but the Greater Downtown Council is not the silent type. Instead, the GDC is offering supporters and thrill seekers the adventure of a life-time: going OVER THE EDGE of a nine story building in Duluth’s Downtown.

A limited number of spaces are available to rappel nine stories down the Superior Street face of the Sellwood Building as part of an off-the-wall fundraiser this summer during the Sidewalk Days Festival. The GDC has teamed up with the special events company, Over the Edge, as well as presenting sponsor, Maurices, to provide this exclusive opportunity in our community on July 10th and 11th. Money raised from the event will help support retail development in Duluth’s central business district.

Over the Edge is staffed with highly trained industrial ropes specialists and already “edgers” are signing up to take on this challenge to raise pledges for Duluth’s Downtown. From politicians to business leaders and community members, anyone can take part, but space is limited. Join individuals like Mayor Don Ness, Senator Roger Reinert, Sellwood Building owner Abbot Apter and GDC president Kristi Stokes in this “urban rappel.” Or perhaps you’d just like to donate to the event so you don’t have to rappel—that’s also an option!

Check out www.downtownduluth.com to find out how you can sign up and plenty more.
