Going for Gold
Oakridge Olympians are ‘Going for Gold’ this school year. As we each strive to become the best Olympian possible, we will focus on a monthlycharacter trait that will help us become successful. The following month, we will recognize one student in each class that exemplifies that specific character trait.
In August, we started our year off with a fun assembly. Teachers showed us how to follow our school rules of being respectful;we respect ourselves, others, and property. Teachers showed us what it looks like to be respectful in all areas of the school.Miss Atkinson was respectful in the library, Ms. Reddout was respectful in thehall, and Mrs. Mancini was respectful in the lunchroom. (Mrs. Drummond even showed us how to be respectful on the playground.)
The character traits we are focusing on this year are:
September – Friendship
October - Responsibility
November - Gratitude
December - Giving
January –Self-Discipline
February - Compassion
March - Integrity
April - Organization
May -Perseverance
We hope you can help us in our quest to excel as Olympians by reinforcing these traits at home. Together, we can reach the gold!
Questions? Concerns? Ideas?
From the Desk of Principal Drummond
I find it hard to believe that this is my fourth year as principal of Oakridge Elementary. Time sure flies quickly. Every day, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be serving with our fabulous students, wonderful patrons, and incredible staff.
As we work together toward another positive year, please remember that I have an open door policy. While my door may not literally be open all of the time, I encourage you to come to me with any questions or concerns you may have. Let’s problem solve and work together. Perhaps you have ideas of how we can make Oakridge an even better school or ways I can improve my practice. Feel free to share these with me and I will see what can be done.
You can contact me at (385)646-4936. If I am not immediately available, we can set-up an appointment.
My e-mail address is . I do my best to respond to you within 24 hours, so try contacting me again if you don’t hear back after 48 hours. (I have had some recent e-mail troubles - some never send when they say they have while others never arrive. I am not purposely ignoring your e-mail, please try again.)
I am excited to continue our work together this year. ~CD
