Targets

The school analyses NFER test data and adapts teaching accordingly. The LEA requires the school to predict targets in the Core Subjects (English, Maths, Science) in teacher assessment at the end of Key Stage 2, children will be given a level in each subject. Achievable individual targets in Maths, English and reading are awarded and changed when appropriate. Targets for KS2 in July 2012 are as follows – English - 91%, Maths – 91%, Science – 91%, CSI – 91%. Cohort of 11. This means that only 1 child will not get L4 at all core subjects. We are on target to achieve this. These pupils are an excellent cohort of children.

Teacher Assessments Please see Appendix 1 for the results. (Dewi data)

School Policies

School policies are reviewed on a three year cycle basis unless there is a need to address any issues beforehand – a skills based curriculum has been developed by the school to implement the 2008 National Curriculum which incorporates all subjects at KS2 and areas of learning at Foundation Phase.

Liaison with Cwmtawe Comprehensive School

Existing liaison links with Cwmtawe are very good and continue to develop for the benefit of pupils transferring from Godre’rgraig to Cwmtawe. The primary Head Teachers of feeder schools to Cwmtawe meet with the Head of Cwmtawe regularly. The Year 6 teacher also has meetings with the staff of Cwmtawe. Pastoral Care Arrangements

All members of staff endeavour to safeguard the health and welfare of pupils and work in close liaison with the Deputy Head and Headteacher in the pastoral care of the children. Children are actively encouraged to report anything which causes them distress. Parents should contact the school immediately if there are any problems. All children are expected to act with common sense, respect and consideration for others. Parents are expected to work closely with the school to maintain good standards of behaviour and cooperate and support the schools general ethos. We have an Assertive Discipline policy which is reviewed annually. We have a School Council where children can discuss and put forward their views about issues in school.

Sport

Children are actively encouraged to participate in sporting activities in and outside school. Junior classes go swimming.

Attendances

All absences are monitored and recorded on a regular basis. It is the duty of all parents to send their children to school regularly and to inform the school of the reason for any absence. The Educational Welfare Officer is informed of absences in patterns of absences and will investigate particular cases. Attendances are generally good. Governors have initially set 93.5% as a target for attendances but this will be reviewed.
