GOD WHO LIFTS UP THE UNLIKELY

Psalms113

1. Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.

2. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.

3.From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.

4. The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.

5. Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,

6. Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!

7. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;

8. That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

9. He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.

In this article I so wish to encourage you to trust God who lifts up the unlikely people and sets them in positions of honour and dignity. God's choices are oftentimes different from men's choices. Reading throughout the Bible we see men and women who amazingly showed up in an unexpected fashion.

In the book of Genesis we see Joseph, a young man loved by his father but hated by his brothers. One day Joseph woke up to almost a tragic demise when his brethren stripped him of his coat, cast him into a pit and eventually sold him to the Midian merchantmen. This seemed to have marked the end of Joseph yet God who lifts up the unlikely visited him and set him at the helm of the Egyptian government

Genesis41:41And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.

The story of Ruth is one amazing story of how God lifts up the unlikely. This young lady was a Moabitess and as such was not permitted to be in the congregation of Israel. According to Deuteronomy23:3An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever: A famine in the land of Bethlehem forced Elimelech and his family to migrate to Moab. For some reason Ruth got connected to this family through a marriage union which could not last as the husband soon died. Ruth became so glued to this family that she journeyed back to Bethlehem alongside her mother in law Naome. It was no sooner did she found herself gleaning the field of one rich man by the name Boaz. This man was the rightful kinsman redeemer

Ruth4:9-10 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi. 10. Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

The God who lifts up the unlikely handpicked Ruth from obscurity and positioned her in the genealogy of Jesus. As you read this article I challenge you to trust God for this grace. Your background is not a limit at all. God is still lifting up the unlikely

David was a shephered boy looking after his father's little flock. When Samuel made a surprise visit to the family to anoint the new king, David was not even counted amongst the possible candidates.

1 Samuel16:11And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

Daniel and his friends were taken from their land into Babylon as captives. This could have meant a complete fading of potential in these young men. Noone could have ever imagined that these captives would rise and become men of great standing. God however preserved them in Babylon and they were soon noticed and promoted to high ranks in Babylon

Daniel2:48Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

Esther was an orphan and probably hopeless. God's favor was upon her life and she was chosen to be the queen in place of Vashti

Esther2:16. So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. 17. And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

Dear friend, God is still working miracles today. He is an unchanging God. What He did in the past, He is able to do again in your life. Expect your surprise lifting in the name of Jesus Christ

We will be glad to hear your testimony of how God lifted you

God bless you
