JUST FOR FUN
Grab some white paper and coloredmarkers and gather your family. Haveeach family member draw a beautifulrainbow. As you draw, encourage eachperson to share a story about a time shesaw a rainbow. Then read Genesis 7—8and 9:12–17. Discuss any new things youheard in this part of The Big God Story.
Younger Kids
Your child’s opinions about Godare largely influenced by hisexperiences with the adults in hislife. As your child becomes moreaware of the inconsistenciesbetween people’s actions andwords, be sure you follow throughon what you say you’ll do.
Older Kids
Your child understands how heractions reflect her faith to thosearound her. Explain to your childthe importance of keeping herword, and help her understand thather friends’ view of Christ might beinfluenced by what she saysand does.
Did You Know?
• God sent the flood to judge mankind forhow wicked they had become.
• God protected Noah, his family, and all ofthe animals in the ark while it rained for 40days and 40 nights.
• Noah’s family stayed in the ark for morethan a year before God told them to openthe doors and come out.
• God promised to never again flood theearth. He gave us the rainbow to remind usHe keeps His word.

Teachable Moments
After reading Scripture, discuss the following together:
• How do you think Noah felt whenGod chose him to build the ark?
• Why did God send a rainbow?
• What can we be reminded ofwhen we see a rainbow?
