First:

Please create the following three cross tabulations:

Go to the section that is titled: Educational attainment

Extract the numbers for male and female categories that has data (ignore totals):

·  No certificate, diploma or degree

·  High school certificate or equivalent

·  Apprenticeship or trades certificate or diploma

·  College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma

·  University certificate or diploma below the bachelor level

·  University certificate, diploma or degree

If both values are 0 ignore that category

Create three Cross tabulations for the following data with the gender (6x2): (Gender as Independent variable at columns)

1-Total population aged 15 to 24

2-Total population aged 25 to 34

3-Total population aged 35 to 64

Under section Cross Tabulation Analysis, check if you find an important difference between the chance of a male to have a certain level of education compared to the chance of a female.

ü  Each section must have a screen shot, or cut and past of the raw data you get from BC statistics.

ü  Writing must be double spaced.

ü  Each cross tabulation must be done at the beginning of a new page.

ü  Must clarify the independent variable.

ü  Write your interpretation of marginals.

ü  Write about your interpretation about the impact of independent variable on dependent variable.

ü  Judge the importance of the observations.

ü  Consider a difference of more than 25%, as “important”.

Second:

* You have to calculate Chi square value for each of the tables you made in the first part.

* Find the chance of such Chi square to be accidental.

* Explain your finding for each table in a phrase after each table.

* Add a conclusion that combines the two parts of your project. Based on 5% significance level.

* You formulate and indicate your hypothesis that the observations are significant but there is your friend who says that in fact there is no difference between the genders regarding the education and age group and your observations is accidental and is a result of sampling variability.

Your paper’s “final” conclusions, will include only those findings that are important and statistically significant.
