GMDSSV BADMINTON

The Shepparton Stadium Management has asked me to let all schools know their footwear policy. Stadium Management will require students to remove shoes that are found to be marking court surfaces and play in bare feet.

Appropriate footwear includes NON-MARKING soled:

• basketball shoes

• athletics shoes

• running shoes

• cross training shoes

• Netball shoes

Inappropriate footwear includes any MARKING soled:

• Dunlop volleys

• school shoes

• black soled shoes

• skateboarding shoes (i.e. Globe, Vans, Etnies, etc)

• casual or slip on shoes

• Converse “All Stars”/Nike gym shoes/boots

or other branded versions of these styles of shoes.

RULES

1.Teams of four or five seeded players. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

2.Matches will consist of 4 singles games and 2 doubles games. Each player will play 1 singles and 1 doubles unless a fifth player is used.

3.All games will be one set. Singles games will be first to 15 points (change at 8) and doubles will be first to 21 points (change at 11). Games will be scored using the “rally point” scoring system adopted by the IBF in 2006.

4.The team that wins the most number of sets is the winner. If teams are equal on sets then the team with the most number of total points won is the winner.

5.Singles sets must be arranged according to the seedings. If a player takes a turn out of a match then players seeded below that player move up one seed. Doubles pairs can be arranged in any manner but each player can only play one doubles game.

6.If games are not completed by the finishing time then if a team is five or more points ahead in a set then that team is awarded the set. If less than five points separate the scores then no win is recorded in the set but the points gained by each team are used to find overall points. Please be a bit flexible with this rule and let the 6 games finish if possible.

7.Any team late by more than 10 minutes will forfeit the first two sets. Any team more than 20 minutes late will forfeit the match.

8.Each school must supply their own racquets. Plastic shuttles (Yonex Red or equivalent) will be provided by the organiser per team entered and schools will be billed for the cost.

FINISHING

  1. Please place any rubbish in the bins provided and make sure students have all their belongings before leaving.
