PERSON SPECIFICATION

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Services Manager and Senior Outreach Worker

Essential Experience

  • Experience of working within the field of domestic abuse either in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Experience of risk assessment, safety and support planningand advocacy on behalf of clients.
  • Experience of partnership working and maintaining working relationships with other professionals.
  • Experience of needs assessment and support planning to achieve desired outcomes.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of attending and supporting victims at court hearings in criminal, civil or family law matters.

Essential Skills/qualifications required

  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people
  • Tact, diplomacy, self-motivation and the ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills and the ability to record case notes accurately
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Good crisis management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Essential Knowledge required

  • A knowledge and understanding of the issues surrounding domestic abuse
  • A knowledge and understanding of legislation concerning domestic abuse
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practise and processes.
  • A knowledge and understanding of court processes for civil criminal and family law matters (some training will be given)
  • A knowledge, awareness and commitment to equal opportunities
