2018/2019 Visiting ScholarApplication and Guidelines

The multidisciplinary Centre for Global Migrations at the University of Otago welcomes applications from scholars with expertise in migration who wish to develop new or existing collaborations with Centre members.

The Centre is offering one short-term Visiting Scholarship during 2018/2019.

The value of the Scholarship is NZ$4,000.

The Visiting Scholar should plan to visit Dunedin between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019, ideally coinciding with teaching semesters (March-May 2018, July-October 2018, or late February-end March 2019). The visit should be for a minimum of two weeks.

As well as developing new or existing linkages with Centre member(s), the Visiting Scholar is also required to deliver a minimum of one public lecture and to hold a workshop with members of the Centre.

Eligibility

The Scholarship is open to scholars with a doctorate in any discipline whose migration expertise complements the focus of the Centre.

Value of Short-Term Scholarship

The Scholarship does not provide a stipend but gives financial support (up to NZ$4,000) towards travel and/or accommodation costs in Dunedin, New Zealand. All travel and/or accommodation bookings will be made by the Centre.

The Centre’s Management Committee will assess the quality of the applications with reference to the following criteria:

  • The proposed work for new or existing collaboration and planned outputs;
  • The proposed public lecture and workshop;
  • How well the candidate’s research complements the Centre’s areas of interest and expertise;
  • The candidate’s academic record as outlined in their CV.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications during February 2018.
