SYNOPSIS

The film begins where ordinarily Romantic Comedies end: different couples kiss and declare eternal love. But do they really live ‘Happily Ever After’? Ex follows the crisscrossing lives of six couples: Filippo (Vincenzo Salemme) and Caterina (Nancy Brilli) are in the midst of a divorce and are battling ‘NOT’ to get custody of the children; Luca (Silvio Orlando) and Loredana (Carla Signoris) are caught in a divorce that is worthy of the ‘War of the Roses’ so Luca goes to live with his son in a student’s hostel where at 50 odd years of age he becomes a true Peter Pan; Sergio, (Claudio Bisio) divorced for years and a lover of life in general finds himself having to be a father to two complicated adolescent girls after the unexpected death of his ex-wife; Elisa (Claudia Gerini) is about to be married to Corrado (Gian Marco Tognazzi) when she meets up with an Ex from her past who unwittingly happens to be the priest ( Don Lorenzo) that is to conduct the wedding; Giulia (Cristiana Capotondi) lives with Marc (Malik Zidi) in Paris however an unplanned transfer to New Zealand transforms their cohabitation into a long-distance relationship that threatens to turn them into Ex’s. Paolo (Fabio De Luigi) is engaged to Monique (Cécile Cassel) and is threatened by Davide (Alessandro Gassman), Monique’s Ex who is extremely jelouse and who has not resigned himself to being an Ex. The stories of these couples play out between Christmas and St Valentine’s Day, their numerous links to each other give life to an elaborate structure that is reminiscent of those great English Comedies the likes of ‘Love Actually’ and ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
