Gleason to Retire from Columbus Speech & Hearing Center
Columbus, Ohio – October 7, 2016 – Dawn Gleason, Au.D., Columbus Speech & Hearing Center (CSHC) President & CEO today announced her retirement, effective December 31, 2016, from the organization she first joined in 1989 as an audiologist.
Gleason spent over 14 years as the Director of Audiology and Hearing Aid Services before being appointed President and CEO in 2003. During her 13-year tenure as President & CEO, the non-profit organization has provided speech, hearing and vocational training to hundreds of thousands—from three-day old infants to senior citizens. Gleason is credited with keeping the highly rated health services organization financially stable while evolving the services provided amidst an ever-changing health care environment.
Gleason received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Denison University, a M.A. in Audiology from Ohio State University and an Au.D. at the Arizona School of Health Sciences. In addition to her CSHC responsibilities, Gleason is a past president of the Ohio Council of Speech & Hearing Administrators and the Ohio Academy of Audiology. She was also a member of the Ohio Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the Ohio Governmental Affairs Coalition.
“This was a very difficult decision. I have been so fortunate to see the tremendous impact our work has on the people we serve. It has been incredibly rewarding. I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and focusing on other aspects of my life. I leave the organization in good shape and with a very capable staff,” stated Gleason.
Suzanne Surface, CSHC Board Chair said, “We are indebted to Dawn for her unwavering loyalty, dedication, hard work and providing us with her unbridled talents over the past 27 years to make the Columbus Speech & Hearing Center among the best treatment facilities in the country.”
A nationwide search for a new President & CEO will begin immediately. Karen Mitchell, Director, Audiology & Hearing Aid Services at Columbus Speech & Hearing Center will serve as interim President and CEO.
