Glasgow Third Sector Transformation Fund

Application Questions in Word (small grant)

Important

Please note that this document is provided only to assist applicants in their completion of the Excel Application. It will not be accepted in place of the Excel Application.

Using the Electronic Application Form

To fill in the electronic application form you will need Microsoft Excel 1997-2003 or later versions. You may prefer to compose your answers in Word and then copy and paste into the form – following the instructions below. A Word version of the questions appears below along with the character limits for each. We would strongly advise you compose your answers in Word then paste to the Excel form for the following reasons:

  1. It is not possible to print your full answers from the Excel form.
  2. There is a character limit imposed on the main questions and it is both helpful and time saving to use the count feature available in Word.

Instructions

Compose your response in a Word document (the questions will be made available in a Word version following the same link as above). Please note the use of bullet points, headings and bold is encouraged to keep your answers concise. We cannot however accept coloured font or the use ofitalics. Next copy and paste into the appropriate text box. To do this:

  • Open both the Word document and the electronic application form
  • Copy the required text from the Word document (highlight it, right click & select "copy")
  • In the electronic application form double click the appropriate text box: you should see the cursor flashing in the box
  • Right-click & select "paste". While the box is still open you can edit the text (but not format it)
  • Click “Enter” or “Tab” to close the box.

To edit the text once the text box has been closed double click on it to open it again and using your mouse or arrow keys, move the cursor to the point in the text where you want to make a change. Click “Alt” and “Enter” to move to a new line within the text box in which you are currently working. Clicking “Enter” on its own will accept your entry and close that text box. Clicking “tab” will accept your entry, close that text box and move you to the next text box in the application form.

Further guidance on using the Excel Form

  • Some text boxes are designed with a list of pre-set options where you must choose one as your answer. These text boxes, when selected, display a small downward facing triangle to the right of it. Click on the triangle and the list of answer options appear; click on your answer and it fills the text box.
  • The electronic form can be saved at any point and reopened later to continue working on it. To save the form use the “Save as” function and navigate to the folder you want to save it into.
