Induction will take place during the week beginning Monday 18th September 2017. Attendance is mandatory. Teaching will start formally on Tuesday 26th September.

The university will be contact with once the programme is open for registration/ matriculation.

Caledonian Court accommodation is available prior to induction – see website for accommodation details.

It is important that you come prepared with the appropriate practical uniform and books that are required for day one of Trimester A. Please see below for details.

Qualification Check

It is a requirement of the course that we check the qualifications that you used to gain entry. Therefore on Monday 18th of September we will be carrying out a qualifications check. You must bring your original documents on this day.

Clothing / Personal Presentation for Practical Classes

As part of the programme you will be required to practice on and with each other when learning practical skills. As a mark of respect to your peers, a formal dress code (which is based on the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Staff Uniform Policy, March 2010) must be adhered to in all practical classes. All students will be required to purchase the following so they can be worn in practical classes that start on 26th September:

·  plain navy trousers/joggers

·  sizeable plain white polo shirt

·  trainers

·  plain navy shorts

White t-shirts, polo shirts with large logos (especially those advertising specific brands), long sleeved t-shirts, tight tops and crop trousers, ballet pumps or high-heeled shoes are not acceptable. Long hair and fringes will need to be tied back and fingernails must be short and free of coloured nail varnish/false nails. All jewellery must be removed before practical classes as do all piercings (including facial/tongue/naval). It is recommended that no new tattoos/piercings are undertaken in the interim. At a later date most year groups organise their own ‘GCU Physio’ branded practical clothing however this will not be available for the start of term and is it is not compulsory to buy it.

Books

The key texts used in your 1st year of the BSc Physiotherapy degree program are listed at the end of this letter. We will send you a book bundle offer from the university bookshop in late August.

You will undertake 5 modules in your 1st year (over 2 trimesters) and for each module you will have access to an electronic Module Handbook which will contain details of any required and suggested reading. If you have any queries about what to read then you should contact the Module Leader directly or myself as Level 1 Co-ordinator.

Recognition of Prior Learning

You may be able to demonstrate prior learning in specific modules; this may mean you are eligible to apply for exemption from undertaking the module. This only applied to non-subject specific modules (for example Physiology).

The programme adheres to the GCU Recognition of Prior Learning Policy (RPL) which can be found at: http://www.gcu.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/rpl/

If you think that you are eligible for an RPL you must let the Programme Lead know by the end of induction week (Thursday 21st September).

Yours faithfully
