Glamox launches LED replacement for popular MAX luminaire

To keep up with the growing demand for LED lighting solutions, Glamox has launched an LED replacement kit for its popular MAX range of T8 fluorescent light fittings. The benefits of upgrading to the new LED version are longer product lifetimes, a reduced carbon footprint, improved energy efficiency and lower maintenance.

For more than 20 years, the MAX range has been one of Glamox’s best selling products for the global marine, onshore and offshore markets.

Nickels Ackermann, Product Manager for Technical Lighting at Glamox comments: “The purpose of introducing the LED kit is to lower the threshold for an LED upgrade. The MAX luminaire is a very sturdy, robust product and in our experience, some of our customers hesitate to replace a well-functioning product. At the same time, there’s money to be saved on replacing the T8 source with LED, both when it comes to maintenance and your electricity bill. In fact, the energy consumption from lighting can be reduced by up to 50 per cent with LED.”

The LED kit is designed to make the replacement as quick and easy as possible. The kit consists of a new diffuser and a new gear tray with an LED strip, including a new IC driver. The diffuser is made from impact-resistant polycarbonate and is supplied with holes for safety wires. The clips that are used to attach the diffuser to the housing are also replaced with special, extra robust versions.

MAX LED

MAX LED is an Ex e high quality LED luminaire for mounting indoors or outdoors in Zone 1 or Zone 2 areas. The luminaire is specially designed for long lifetime and reduced maintenance. LEDs are driven by an inrush-free integrated circuit driver. The luminaire has a hinged gear tray for easy access. The housing is made from either Galfan (Z) or stainless steel (S), with white stove enamelled epoxy/polyester powder finish. The Galfan housing is not suitable for marine outdoor installations.

The LED tubes are designed specifically for MAX fixtures. The tubes are supplied with an opal diffuser for consistent light output which looks similar to fluorescent tubes. The tubes are moulded for Zone 1 operation and can be delivered in different colour temperatures.

The emergency version of the mAX LED is supplied with an external battery box to ensure lower temperature of the battery in order to increase the lifetime in warm environments. Emergency light versions are available with 1.5 or 3 hours battery duration.
