GJCA Coordinators Meeting

Attendees:Dennis Davie (President), Garry Goodman, Tony Calnon, Glen Potter, Steve Blackford, Tim Henry, Danny Wilson and representatives from all except those listed below.

Agenda Items:

  1. Welcome and Introductions
  • New Board membersNikki Tonkin, Danny Wilson and Mark Eskrigge.
  • Welcome to all and especially to all new Junior Co-Ordinators.
  • Dom McGlinchey(Regional Cricket Manager) and his new assistant Mitchell Reid.
  1. Communication Tools Website (DD)
  • Stress Options, Social Media etc.
  • GJCA Board Minutes/ Treasurer’s Reports/ Selection matters on the GJCA Website.
  • Mark Eskrigge has joined the GJCA Board as the Website Co-Ordinator.
  • Nikki Tonkin will manage the Facebook pages for both the GJCA and the Girls competition.
  1. Calendar of Events (DD)
  • Available on the GJCA Website in 2 parts with a General Calendar and a Representative Games Calendar.
  1. Representative Cricket Program 2017/2018 (RCM, SB and GP)
  • Explanation of difference from past seasons.
  1. Cricket Victoria Developments (RCM)
  • New Junior formats and T20 Blast. Will not be implemented this season in the GJCA.
  1. Girls Cricket (Nikki and RCM)
  • Met with 12 Clubs a month ago.
  • Teams will be Under 15 and Under 18 Age levels.
  • Nikki Tonkin will co-ordinate the 10 week program. 6 games before Xmas and 4 games after Xmas.
  1. Junior Cricketer of the Year
  • To be confirmed by the Board for details at a later date.
  1. Barwon Region Junior Country Week (DD)
  • Dates to be resolved. Details will follow to all Clubs and updated on GLCA website.
  1. MyCricket (GG)
  • Team Nominations due Friday, September 8, 2017 (4 weeks to first Under 13 Friday night on October 13, 2017
  • Affiliation Fees–(Subject to Budget discussions and resolved at GJCA Board meeting on 13 September)
  • Scorebook updates. In production. Pick up on Monday, October 9, 2017
  • Midweek T20 starts on Tuesday, November 28, 2017
  1. Clearances (GG)
  • Overview from GG. Not required for Under 11 or Under 13 players. Still need to be done for player’s records.
  1. Grounds
  • South Barwon # 4 and Modewarre #1 and # 2 are out of action at present.
  1. Rule Amendments (DD)
  • On websiteand will be forwarded to all Clubs as well.
  1. Codes of Conduct for Coaches, Parents and Players (DD and Board)
  • Overview from DD.
  1. Umpires in Junior Finals (DD)
  • Preliminary view. More discussion at next Junior co-Ordinators Meeting
  1. General Business
  • Read the Play Program (DD) Over view from Dennis Davie and Steve Blackford.
  • WWCC (GG) All Team Managers and Coaches and Committee personnel must have a WWCC
  • It is easy to do by firstly go to the Website of WWCC (just Google “wwcc”) and complete. It take 5 minutes on line and its FREE
  • Then go a Post Office and have photo taken. Credit Card size photo will follow in due course.
  • JLT Club Risk Protection Programme Check List. Go to JLT App on App. Store and search JLT Cricket and install and then follow prompts on match day. Make sure that you send an email to to confirm Match day routine.
  • Sunday games to be determined by the GJCA Board in due course.
  • The Geelong Cricket Association and the Geelong Junior Cricket Association now have an Office at Sports House, 370 Moorabool Street, Geelong. Post Office Box 63 has now been deleted.
  • Liquor Licence laws must be adhered to. Be warned that the Liquor Control people will be visiting your Club this season. Check with your Senior Club for red line area around your Club Rooms. There can be no glasses of “Chardonnay” on the boundary line sitting in the deck chair.
  • Under 11 and Friday Night teams provide their own drinks.
  • Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 drinks are provided by the Home team on Saturday mornings
  • 10 minutes ONLY at the drinks break. Must be adhered to.
