Get Fit For Summer Fitness Challenge Information & Registration

The purpose of the 10 week challenge is to encourage and motivate people towards a healthy lifestyle through spiritual, physical and emotional fitness. There will be fun activities and you will have the chance to win awesome prizes. Please read the information and rules for the challenge listed below. If you have any questions, please contact

Early RegistrationFee: $65.00 (due at time of registration)
- Register by March 4to be eligible for a special drawing at the Kick-Off meeting.
- Late registration fee is $75.00 beginning March 5; registration will be accepted through March 27
- Participants will receive use of the weight/cardio equipment, track, and fitness classes, 2 Fun Fitness Challenge Nights, a Get Fitfor Summer T-shirt, weekly encouragement and motivation at the meetings, an orientation to the weight/cardio room, and the chance to win some amazing prizes for fitness and weight loss.
- The Challengeis open to the community so invite your friends and neighbors.
Meeting Dates: FLC Room 108 at 7pm
We highly encourage participants to attend the weekly meetings. There will be special speakers discussing different topics pertaining to health and fitness that you will not want to miss, plus you will receive points for attendance.
Kick off Meeting–March 20 at 7pm - attendance is worth 10 points
Weekly Meetings–March 27, April 3,April 10, April 17, April 24, May 1, May 8, and May 15
Fun Fitness Challenge Nights- March 30and May 18at 7pm in the gym
Grand Finale Meeting and Winners Announced - May 22 at 7pm
Weigh-in Dates:
All participants must weigh in at the FLC North from 5:30am – 7:30pm on the following dates:
Initial weigh-in - Tuesday, March 20
Final weigh -- Monday, May 21
***Initial weigh-in will not be allowed before March 20 and final weigh-in will not be allowed after May21. Participants who join after March 20will weigh-in at time of registration. Weigh-ins will be private and a person’s weight will not be announced without the approval of the participant. Weight loss percentage will be announced at the Grand Finale Meeting.
Points:
- 1 point for a minimum of 45 minute workout at the FLC. Only 1 point per day given.
- 2 points for each weekly meeting
- 10 points for attending the Kick-off meeting on March 20
- You may workout on March 20, the day of the kick off meeting, but must sign in and out at front desk to receive credit.
Bonus Points:
- Receive bonus points for attendance in Fun Fitness Challenge Nights
- Receive bonus fitness points for workout days randomly chosen by the Get Fit for Summer Challenge Coordinators. Bonus day sign will be posted at the front desk.
- Receive bonus points for attending a weekly meeting randomly chosen by the Get Fit for Summer Challenge Coordinators. Announcement of the extra points received will be made at that meeting.
Grand Finale Prizes
- Grand Prize to the person with the most combined fitness points and weight loss percentage

- Weight Loss Award to the Male and Female with the most percentage of weight loss

Regular physical exercise is fun and healthy, and increasingly more people are becoming more active every day. Being more active is very safe for most people. However, some people should check with their doctor before they start becoming more physically active or increase their activity (highly recommended for age 50 and over). If you answered “YES” to any of the above questions you must consult your personal physician by telephone or in person before increasing your physical activity or participating in a fitness program. For your safety, the FLC cannot allow you to exercise in the facility or participate in any fitness program until we receive a Physician’s Approval Form from your doctor.

In order to participate in this challenge you must agree to the following rules:
- You must be 18 years old or older to participate
- A doctor’s release must be obtained for anyone with a “YES” answer on the health questionnaire or as requested by the FLC Fitness Director.
- Starvation diets, fad diets, or dietary supplements (OTC or prescribed) are not allowed and are grounds for dismissal from the challenge. This decision will be made by the FLC Director.
- All weigh-in dates will be strictly enforced and held at the FLC with a staff person. No exceptions will be made.
- All workouts must be done at the FLC to accumulate fitness points. All participants are required to sign in and out at the front desk for points to qualify. FLC Staff must initial all workouts. No exceptions made.
- The prize for weight loss will be based on the most percentage of weight loss (not total body weight).
- The grand prize will be based on the most combined fitness points and weight loss percentage.
- The fitness prize will be based on the most accumulated fitness, meeting and bonus points.
- All prizes awarded will be at the discretion of the FLC Director who has the right to disqualify individuals not abiding by the rules.
- There will be no refunds after the official start date of the contest (March 20) should a participant drop out of the challenge or be disqualified.
- A recommended book for spiritual, nutritional and exercise guidance is the Total Heart Health for Women and the Total Heart Health for Men (may be ordered at the SBC Bookstore).
- Credits or extensions will not be given to current Walking Track memberships or remaining days of fitness class fees when participating in the Get Fit for Summer Challenge.
- In the event of a tie a drawing will be held to determine thewinners.
I understand the rules and conditions of the Get Fit for Summer Challenge and agree to following said rules. I agree that all use of the Second Baptist Church facilities and programs shall be undertaken at my own risk, and that Second Baptist Church shall not be liable for any injury or any damage to me or my property, or be subject to any claim, demand, injury or damages whatsoever, including without limitation, those damages resulting from acts or active passive negligence on the part of Second Baptist Church, or it’s officers or agents. I, for myself, and on behalf of my executors, administrators, and assigns, do expressly forever release and discharge SecondBaptistChurch, as well as its agents and officers, for all such claims, demands, injuries or actions or cause of action.
I understand that payment of fees and participation in the program shall constitute acceptance of the conditions and rules set forth.
