GET FIT Countryside
Dear Countryside Parents/Guardians,
The Physical Education teachers, along with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx are teaming up together again to get kids more physically active outside of school with GET FIT. Students try to reach 75 points or more by November 18th(1 point for every 15 minutes of physical activity). Students in grades 1-5 will receive a GET FIT tracking sheet to keep at home. They should place it in a visible spot so they remember to be active and log their activity time. This is an optional activity for grades 1-4. Students in 5th grade will be required to participate in GET FIT to fulfill a P.E. Standard of tracking physical activity outside of the school day.
When students perform a physical activity and then log their points, parents/guardians will need to initial the sheet as well as encourage movement outside of the school day. For example: 15 minutes of shooting baskets at a basketball hoop = 1 point. One hour of raking or any activity of choice = 4 points!
When a student reaches 75 or more points, they hand their tracking sheet into their PE teacher and they will receive a Timberwolves prize and poster. Prizes will be handed out during Physical Education class once the program has ended.
For students who are interested, they will also receive a free student ticket offer (with purchase of an adult ticket) for a Timberwolves and Lnyx designated game. Attendance to a game is optional. If students go to one of the designated games they also receive a prize package at the game. For example one year they gave away a poster and jump rope at the game. After the game those students were able to shoot a free throw on the Target Center court!
If students fill up their tracking sheet and need another sheet to log activity, we have extras available or go to Mr. Bleess’s webpage to print one off.
GET FIT individually and as a family Countryside!
Sincerely,
Mr. Bleess and Mr. Koller
