Poster Activity
Around the world, there are many non-profit international organizations that work towards the promotion of human rights / environment for all human beings. Their objective is to prevent discrimination towards sex, race, language, and culture and to increase awareness of human rights and environment issues globally. This project is worth 10% of your final grade.
TASK
Students will create a visual poster and fact sheet that defines and explains the role / efforts and impact a specific international organization has in the world.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Select an international organization to research.
2. Research and create a FACT SHEET on the selected international organization based on the questions below:
a) What is the full name of the organization?
b) When and where was it formed?
c) What caused (ie. event, issue, crisis) the organization to be created?
d) What are the main goals or missions of the organization?
e) Where in the world does this organization operate today? Why?
f) What actions does the organization take to achieve its goals?
3. Create a visual poster that will be based around a central image that represents your organization's goals and missions to the people around the world. The poster must have a combination of hand-drawn and printed visuals, be coloured, be professional and creative.
4. Write a reflection that answers the following question:
· Choose ONE of the international organizations presented in class that you feel best exemplifies (shows) the idea of global citizenship. Provide three reasons for your choice.
